1. Phasing coal out

Is the end of coal finally in sight?

40 countries have agreed to the "coal pledge" at the COP26.

They will work to gradually phase out coal from their energy mix.

The developed countries are targeting to achieve this in the 2030s, while the less developed countries will need a bit more time and are aiming at the 2040s.

This opens the door for alternative energy production to ramp up and replace coal-electricity generation in the energy mix.

2. Smart mobility

Are self-driving trucks a reality now?

A milestone has been reached in self-driving truck technology.

Walmart, in collaboration with the startup Gatik, started using fully autonomous trucks to do deliveries between a fulfillment center and a store in Arkansas.

Other grocery chains have also conducted tests, but here, it’s the first time that a full-size truck is being used.

This opens the door to a regular used of this technology.

3. Fintech

Is "Buy Now, Pay Later" a cultural thing… or not?

This interesting survey from Statista shows very different responses to the use of new Fintech offering "Buy Now, Pay Later", depending on where people live in the world...

• 37% of respondents living in the UK and 39% of those living in Germany ?? don't plan on using the "buy now, pay later" method any time soon…

And inversely:

• 77% of respondents in China ?? and 58% in the US ??, already used a form of Buy Now, Pay Later service.
