HOW TO STAGE A SUICIDE

HOW TO STAGE A SUICIDE

A few weeks ago, I was on a panel sponsored by TAL that included Renada Lee from Superfriend and Rachel Bowes from Lifeline Australia. We were talking about suicide and it was a great discussion.

What made it even better was a 30-minute play called Out of the Blue which ran before the panel. It was absolutely brilliant. There were belly laughs, tears and more insights into suicide than you could imagine.

I won’t go on as you really have to see it to appreciate it – which I suggest you do. In fact, every Australian should.

PS. Since suicide is especially prevalent this time of the year, would you mind sharing this post as you never know who you might be helping?

While I understand this is an amazing offer, and I would love to see it too, I hope nothing stops it from going viral. At least not money. Especially if it truly can be beneficial for them. It is possible there is at least one youtube free resource that could save someone too or one program that may change a life. But the only trouble with it is, one has to be lucky to come across it if they don't know what it is called and how to access it. There are thousands of people currently selling resources that are guaranteed to help. From the user point of view especially someone struggling with anxiety, depression suicidal thoughts, it means spending money and moving from one door to another, if one or more of these resources fail to support them well and nothing feels more hopeless when you cannot access the right resource at the right time. If suicide really sits at the hearts of you all, I would urge you to make resources that truly can save, free and easily accessible.? I may not be sounding practical or even sensible suggesting this. But being a victim, it was highly possible for me to not make it, had it not been for us having funds to get the best help, my spiritual guide intervening when Drs were giving bad advice and a doctor who I finally reached to after 10 years of trying, that truly made a difference.? I was lucky. All those who didn't make it weren't as lucky.? Even if we take the spiritual leader part out of this, there were two things extremely important in my recovery. Access to the best medical help and funding. Looking at the present situation in WA, we are asking the sufferer to go on testing and trial. This with a lack of funds and time, automatically posses an increased threat to their recovery and life.? As a Mental health advocate, my only concern would be making sure the right help reaches someone without their needing to worry about funds and time they don't have. Just that! Nothing else. I can do it with my words, but not being a practitioner or therapist or spiritually gifted, I can only urge people to think selflessly about it, if they want to help. I am willing to do that, but I know we need interventions and funding will only stop them to reach someone on time. If I had not shared I would regret it.But I understand? It is only in the interest of people suffering. Even though it may not be in the interest of service providers.?

So great to see suicide come out into the open and be discussed.? It cannot be solved in silence. Will share.? Thank you.?
