How to Stage A Kitchen So Your Home Sells Fast

-Mary Jo Quay

?I'm Mary Jo with Re/Max Results and I'm here at Mingle Design Studio in Plymouth with Laura Bohn of Five Star Stagings.

Kitchens sell the house.

So, Laura Bohn of Five Star Statings passes along a few tips on staging a kitchen to sell fast.

First tip is to declutter.

  • Dishes out of the sink
  • Food back in cupboards
  • Magnets and pictures off the fridge.

There tends to be things on the top shelf of your cabinets just collecting dust. Move those, as well. Make it really crisp and clean.

Once you've kind of done your decluttering and organization in your kitchen, then bring out those staging accessories.

It could be as simple as a vase of flowers. People love that smell when they walk into a home. It could also be a bowl of fruit just sitting on your kitchen island. It's simple.

Most people don't understand that their little things are what shows up in photography. It eliminates the clean lines. It's good to get rid of most that you can. I know that you're living there and it's the stuff you use every day, but when it comes to actually staging and your photographs, you really just want that crisp clean look.

It's going to do you a lot of good when people are looking online at your listing photos.

Also, another idea for those that don’t have a kitchen island, just use that kitchen counter! You can set up a tray with coffee or you can set up some San Pellegrino bottles with a couple of napkins, or if you like wine, you could set up a couple of wine glasses with a couple of bottles of wine. Just something that's going to create that emotional connection point for sellers when they're looking online, so that they can relate to it and be like, "Ah. I could picture myself living there."
