Feed?is the main cost of poultry industry, accounting for 70-80% of the total cost. Although the cost issue is a key factor in the profitability of feed enterprises, from the perspective of long-term development, the stability of feed quality is more important. Therefore, effective methods are needed to ensure the stability of feed quality under the current market situation.

There are two main reasons for the unstable quality of feed:

We all know that long-term storage of feed is more prone to mycotoxin problems. Due to changes in storage conditions and other factors, the location and time of mycotoxins in the feed are different, which results in unstable feed quality.

2. The introduction of low-quality raw materials

The cost of feed ingredients has generally risen. To balance costs, feed mills will consider replacing higher-cost ingredients with relatively cheap ingredients. For example, use the relatively cheap cotton meal to replace soybean meal, or use other unconventional raw materials to replace conventional raw materials. Unconventional raw materials are relatively low in utilization for animals, and may introduce ingredients harmful to animals, such as mycotoxins, heavy metals, and anti-nutritional factors.

Why can bile acids stabilize feed quality?

1. Improve feed utilization

Bile acids play an important role in all three stages of fat emulsification, digestion and absorption. So it can effectively promote fat digestion and absorption, and promote the improvement of fat-soluble nutrients (vitamins A, D, E, K, pigments, etc.) use efficiently. Therefore, the supplementation of bile acids in feed can allow animals to make full use of the nutrients in the feed. 3. Alleviate mycotoxin problems

Bile acids can partially bind to mycotoxins and reduce the absorption of mycotoxins in the intestines. In addition to excreting mycotoxins from the body, bile acids can also speed up the degradation of mycotoxins by improving the detoxification ability of intestinal enzymes. Bile acids can also activate bile acid-sensitive Farnesoid X Receptor (FXR) to promote the decomposition of T-2 toxins and HT-2 toxins into low-toxic substances under the detoxification effect of the liver, protecting the animal body from the damage of T-2 toxins.

Therefore, the combination of bile acids and mycotoxins binders is the best solution to deal with the mycotoxins problem. And it can reduce the use of mycotoxins binders by 50% to balance part of the cost.

4. Reduce the damage of harmful ingredients

Bile acids can improve the anti-stress and antioxidant capacity of animals by increasing the expression of a series of oxidoreductases SOD, GSH-Px, catalase (CAT) and other genes, reduce oxidative stress, and protect animals from toxins damage to the body.

This is why adding bile acids to feed can reduce costs while also stabilizing feed quality.

Let's look at the effect of bile acids on the cost of broiler feed and the improvement of broiler's growth performance through a case.

A large integrated broiler company has sharply increased the cost of feed and meat due to the sharp rise in the price of raw materials such as soybean meal. It can be seen from the above trial that after the formula is adjusted, the feed cost is reduced by 1.8 USD/ton, the body weight of the broiler is increased by 3.6% in the 0-21 day-old stage, the mortality rate and the FCR are reduced by 18% and 2.3% respectively. The EPI is improved to 413.

Due to insufficient secretion of bile acids in the early stage of broilers, digestive problems lead to the waste of nutrients such as feed protein and oil. Adding bile acids can improve the digestibility and utilization of nutrients and make full use of the potential value of feed.
