If you're reading this, chances are you're not battling poverty but rather the other end of the spectrum – dealing with an excess of food and a sedentary lifestyle. It's disheartening to see that a significant percentage of us are falling victim to the staggering statistics of conditions like diabetes.
Now, if you're aiming for a fast-track ticket to becoming a part of those statistics, here are a few things you can continue doing:
- Don't bother focusing on your diet and lifestyle as a whole. Who needs systems and habits that support the basics of good health like exercise, sleep, hydration, and stress management anyway?
- Forget about meeting a qualified nutrition practitioner who can actually help you with all of the above. Who needs professional guidance when you can rely on Dr. Google and self-proclaimed (in)experts for your health advice?
Instead, here's what you should do to ensure you join the ranks of the statistics:
- Keep investing your energy and resources in the never-ending quest to find the perfect fruit, vegetable, diet, spice, oil, or cookware. Because, clearly, the key to good health lies in that one elusive superfood or kitchen gadget that promises miraculous results.
- Make sure to follow the advice of inexperts who are more interested in selling you their "revolutionary" diet or way of living. After all, who needs evidence-based information when you can have anecdotal claims and personal opinions?
- Trust those organizations that are more interested in emptying your pockets with their pricey services and protocols that often outrun our present knowledge. After all, why rely on established scientific research when you can put your faith in the latest health trend?
- If you diligently follow these steps, you can be assured that you'll soon become a proud member of those alarming statistics we all love to dread.
I hope you can sense the loving sarcasm in my tone, as it's coming from a place of genuine concern. The public health implications of these trends are truly frustrating and leave many of us feeling helpless. It's high time we start prioritizing comprehensive lifestyle changes and seek guidance from qualified professionals who can steer us away from these worrisome statistics. #genuinelyfrustrated #feelinghelpless #publichealth

1 年Sadly many humans have outlived their genetic ability to protect them selves and their health. It was about nutrient deficiency and failure to thrive in needy countries that we studied when I graduated from dietetics, now it is all about a sedentary lifestyle, unplanned and inconsistent eating which drives people to look for short cuts and unscientific approaches to solving their problem. It’s exhausting keeping pace with fad foods and diets. I think I will head off to the gym and spin my legs and come home to a large bowl of Greek yoghurt, nuts and seeds and a sprinkling of blues berries! ??♀?
