How a Special Operation Changed the Relationship Between the Branches of Power in Russia
In recent years, Western sanctions and political pressure on Russia have forced the country to confront strategic problems and develop its economy. These challenges have also helped to bring together the government and the State Duma, helping to smooth out longstanding contradictions between parties in parliament. This new development has been sparked by a special military operation, which has helped to highlight the importance of national interests over disagreements.
This new cooperation between the government and parliamentarians was evident during meetings between Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin and leaders of the Communist Party, "Fair Russia," and the LDPR. Mishustin has repeatedly emphasized the need for dialogue to find solutions to significant challenges facing the country, particularly in light of external pressures.
During a meeting with the Communist Party, Mishustin stressed the importance of discussing key legislative initiatives, including those related to the special military operation. He noted that President Vladimir Putin had highlighted the patriotism of Russian society in his recent message to the Federal Assembly. Thanks to close cooperation, it was possible to achieve growth in the economy despite external pressures. In total, 315 support measures were taken in the amount of about 8 trillion rubles, annual inflation was 11.9%, but today this figure is at the level of 4%, and the growth of investments in fixed assets continued and amounted to 4.6%.
The Communist Party leader, Gennady Zyuganov, also spoke about the importance of the special operation and further economic development during his meeting with Mishustin. He stressed that without a powerful economy, science, and patriotic education, the task of the special operation is unsolvable. To this end, he noted that he had recently spoken with the leader of United Russia, Dmitry Medvedev, and that they had found common ground in working towards implementing the president's message.

Meanwhile, the "Fair Russia – Patriots – For Truth" faction was interested in issues related to pension provision, particularly indexation for working pensioners. The party's leader, Sergei Mironov, also highlighted the need to ensure decent living conditions for citizens in the DPR, LPR, Kherson, and Zaporozhye regions. He emphasized that the government as a whole was coping well with the difficult economic conditions and was ready to take an active part in the development of a strategic plan for socio-economic development.
Finally, during his meeting with the LDPR faction, Mishustin emphasized the importance of daily work with the government and departments. Party leader Leonid Slutsky thanked the government for the close interaction, which he said had a positive effect on the lives of ordinary citizens.
Overall, experts believe that the normalization of relations between the State Duma and the government began with the formation of the new Cabinet of Ministers. However, the special operation has significantly accelerated this process. The interests of the country have come to the forefront, and disagreements between parties have taken a back seat. This new development bodes well for the future of Russia, particularly in light of the challenges it faces.
