How soon can we reopen

This month marked my first trip outside Hong Kong since December of 2019.

Hong Kong people all wear masks in public and people arriving back to Hong Kong are required to do mandatory quarantine at a designated quarantine hotel. You can see from the photograph above how quiet our airport is. By contrast I arrived in Dubai airport at 6am local time to find the airport crowded with travelers, none of whom seemed to be wearing a mask.

The same experience awaited me in Norway and in the UK, (especially T3 in Heathrow which was as busy as I can ever remember seeing it in 30 years) It was like being transported back in time to 2019 when Covid was as yet unheard of. A very strange experience.

Hopefully HK will reopen soon and life can return to normal, as it seems to have done in many other parts of the world already and we can once more welcome friends and family back to our city.
