Middle Class constitutes the social strata between the Rich and the Poor. It depends a lot on how you define the Middle Class but let us take the common parlance of the Middle Class. The system is failing the Middle Class repeatedly.
Let me first describe a common middle class. They are the educated lot, having moved away from their parents legacy and gathered higher education to further their relevance in the society. They enjoy a moderate income. Their life is filled up with all the rightous virtue taught by their parents, teachers and mentors. Their life revolves around these principles. What is right and what is wrong dictates their life.
But off-late they are trapped by the same guiding principles which has made them the role models for the society. The middle class is pushed down by the rich people and they are pushed upward by the poor people. This is making the middle class squeezed at the middle. This squeezing is almost like suffocating under these vital pressures. They are succumbing by their own dogma.
On the one hand they are trying to help the poorer section of the society and making adjustment in the society to inculcate these neo-middle class. At the same time they are unable to move up the social ladder. The burgeoning middle class is thus trapped in their own dogma and are wilting and perishing. They are losing their social status due to the inclusion of new peers. They are also losing their status in the society gradually. The burgeoning middle class thus pressurized are forced to eke out living in not so respected jobs. As a result nepotism and influencing hiring decision by means of social connection are becoming rampant. Thus putting an end to meritocracy, which remain a mirage of the very essence of a middle class family. They are forced into taking haircuts on every decision they take thus leading a gloomy and burdensome life.
The people who are joining the neo middle class are also getting disillusioned. The generation next of these neo middle class are even more disillusioned. Having gained education and aspiring for a more affluent social status but returning back to their parents vocation for survival. These are creating a lacuna in the system where as rich are getting richer and poor are getting richer, the middle class is trapped in their own thinking.
Caught in the rat race they are failing to have happiness in their life. They are caught in the viscous net of their own principles. They cannot be as dodgy as the poor people who are fighting for every bit for their existence and the rich who by their own might may create their own wealth.
In the race between the gazalle and the leopard, it is more likely that the gazalle will win cause it is fighting for his own survival.

8 年Yes Amit you have truly depicted the dilemma which the middle class is facing today. Feel the middle class would need to do a deep thinking as to how to tackle the present environment. But the same is quite difficult because the middle class has been raised in virtues, justice ,compassion etc which in today's world are thought to be friends of the foolish only .Thanks
