How Snapchat is rising over the tide?
Snapchat one of the popular image messaging services mobile application with over 600 million downloads had a hiccup last week when one of the former employees alleged that the CEO Mr. Evan Spiegal reportedly said that he was not interested in expanding his business to poor countries like Spain and India and the app was built only for rich people. This caused a furor on social media and the company received severe backlash from both the countries.
The former employee was discussing and proposing ideas for the growth of the application as well as global outreach with the CEO where he was abruptly interrupted and was written off saying that he was not ready to expand into poor countries. These allegations were contained in a lawsuit that was filed in January last week because the company has inflated the user data and had misinformed about the key metrics to all. However, Snapchat rubbished the allegations and told that the CEO has not spoken anything at all in that manner.
Now it caused a furor in social media and many netizens from both the countries who criticized the CEO and created a new hashtag #uninstall snap chat and give 1 rating to the app. Getting the ratings down will further escalate the issue forcing the app to come down from the store.
Coming to the app it was created in the year 2011 by university students comprising of the CEO and two more and it was a popular image messaging mobile application with many downloads on both the App stores of android and iOS devices and it has also raised many millions in the IPO’s and stands second in the line to its rival twitter. It became quite popular and it uses google app engine which is Google’s cloud platform. You can undergo google apps training from many portals to know more about how to develop google apps.
What started out as a small project has been able to climb up the ladder very easily and it has managed to get so many downloads in the last 4 years and has become a popular app for sending a picture or video messages every day using multiple filters. The technology stacks that snapchat uses are python, Google maps, HTML5, google cloud and Apache Spark. You can not avail spark training from many e-portals such as udemy, https://e-learning.benchfolks.com and free websites.
Coming back to the issue where the issue started is many argue that the allegations were leveled against the CEO as the former employee targeted to malign them and was a disgruntled employee and that the administration of Snapchat was happy and grateful to the community in India and worldwide for supporting them.
It is quite a popular app for sending enhanced images or selfies of people with filters like rainbow-emitting from them, bunny and cute faces and is an instant hit among the youth. Such kind of bad publicity will hinder the process of its growth and the company must take various steps to plug this kind of bad PR. Since the company is at a nascent stage it must take the right steps and stop bad press.
