Oh Slate. You kill me with your articles written by youngsters on how old people can't utilize technologies such as Snapchat. Come on now, not everyone over 30 is technically challenged or unable to understand Snapchat. Some of us (without kids) use it, and use it well.
Folks, if you want to know how to use Snapchat, here you go:
1. Dowload the Snapchat app
2. Create an account and log in! Once you set up an account, share your name out so friends can find you - serenaehrlich - for example (come chat with me!)
3. Allow Snapchat to tie into your address book or search and find friends to follow.
Now you're ready to Chat!
4. Tap the big button in the middle - hold it down to record a video or tap it to take a photo. Don't like the image you got? Just start over! Love the image you got? Put your finger on the screen and type text over it if you'd like. You can even click the T button to change the size of the font or the paintbrush to paint over your photos.
5. Hit the arrow button at the bottom of the screen and select your snap recipients
6. Send your snap!
That's it. It is really that easy. Not sure you did it right? Add me and feel free to send me practice snaps. Can you do more with your single snap? Sure! You can
Going out or somewhere fun? Create a story - these images last 24 hours!
1. Follow 1-4 above
2. Hit the arrow but instead of selecting friends, select "my story"
3. Add to story
4. Take more pics, as many as you want!
5. Add them to the story
Stories are automatically available for friends to see when they log in.
So why snapchat? The future of news and information consumption is the merger of text and images. Think about it - have you ever received a text saying "I am bored?" Now imagine that being an image of your friend's cute, but sad face, with the text layered on top.. That is infinitely more exciting than just text. It evokes emotion. And that? That is what snapchat does. It increases impact via images.
Now, please, go forth and snapchat. Let's show the world that age is not defining us.

9 年Great tips! My challenge is the lack of folks in my network who also use Snapchat. (I've got a feeling that'll soon change.)
