How smart is the USAF and NASA? Do they even have a clue?

Steve Kwast of the United States Air Force sponsored a study that projected the emerging revolution in launch, IF the US government helped stimulate development of reusable launch vehicles.? Jim Bridenstine of NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration was briefed on this analysis by Gen. Kwast, and Administrator Bridenstine personally made this happen with a commercial procurement of the lunar lander, which provided over $4 billion in funding for SpaceX for #Starship!?

Note that the chart from the“Fast Space” study analysis from 2017 projects lower launch costs based on higher flight rates, leading to closing of the business case for improvements in reusable launch vehicles.? This analysis was led by Hoyt Davidson .

“Today” on the chart was 2017 when we had less than 20 launches per year.? We have now hit the 100 flight per year mark, enabling a 3X reduction in costs, and enabling the next generation of reusable launch systems.

We are on the path to Ultra-Low-Cost Access to Space not only because of SpaceX, but because of Steve Kwast, Jim Bridenstine, Hoyt Davidson, and many many others.

USAF study team also included Peter Garretson , M.V. "Coyote" Smith , Margo Deckard , Thomas Schilling , Hoyt Davidson , Bill "Burners" Bruner , Jim Muncy , James Dunstan , Alan Lindenmoyer , Josh Hartman , Tim Huddleston , Tyghe Speidel , Harry Foster, Alan Wilhite , Jim Ball , Richard Dunn , Joel Sercel , Leon McKinney , Edgar Zapata , Roger Lepsch , Dan Rasky , Paul Jaffe , and Jeff Donnithorne .

Interesting post Charles Miller . Maybe letting industry work out these things with the right incentives and support is a better approach that doing it inside Governments?

Do you think that the commercialization of lower cost reusable launch vehicles was made possible by multiple smaller lighter weight satellite payloads enabled by commercial lower power microelectronics, microSD cards, dense power batteries, and multi core microprocessors the size of a fingernail?
