How Smart is the Smart Technology

For today’s smart user, everything has become smart. From phones to TV; we don’t look into the dumb option anymore. Just not the gadgets; even our buildings have become smart as well. But at the end of the day; we must know how smart is this smart technology. Does it come along with some additional advantage or it is just a marketing phrase? Let’s take a look!

While riding the fourth industrial revolution; we are already heading towards the fifth and smart technology is the catalyst for to fast pace of this transition. With the help of Artificial Intelligence; smart technology is all geared up to its way of global revolution to change the way we live, work, or even communicate.?

Honestly, the term ‘smart’ is not a technical term instead we can say that it is coined for marketing purposes. In general, any gadget that has a computer chip or has an inbuild preprogrammed function is called a smart device.?

Smart technologies are advanced devices, systems, and applications that use artificial intelligence, internet connectivity, and other advanced technologies to enhance and automate various tasks in various fields such as home automation, transportation, healthcare, and security. Examples include smart home devices, smart cities, smart cars, wearable technology, and smart healthcare devices.

The Internet of Things is one of the strongest columns of smart technology. The network of devices utilizing sensors, software, online connectivity, analytics, and applications to bring physical objects to life is called the Internet of Things (IoT). It creates value and is scalable, automated, and futuristic. Smart cities, smart homes, and smart factories are notable examples of IoT.

Smart connected devices, such as smart security cameras, smart bulbs, and smartphones, can be controlled through a remote and connected via the internet or Bluetooth. While they offer a customized experience, they do not adapt as extensively as IoT devices. Careful handling is required with these devices.

Smart devices offer personalized services at a scheduled time without the need for internet connectivity. These devices have a programmable nature and provide limited automation to deliver specific services. For example, a smart coffeemaker or surveillance camera can provide personalized service as per the program.

Actually, the term SMART was an abbreviation of Self-Monitoring Analysis and Reporting Technology that referred to a device's ability to connect to internet networks and interact with other devices or remote databases. However, the current meaning of "smart" has evolved to describe any device that exhibits cleverness or intelligence. Simply being connected to the internet or having the ability to send and receive information does not make a device "smart."

Smartness is not a fixed quality of technology, as there are varying degrees of intelligence. The level of smartness depends on the amount of programming flexibility in a system and the complexity of the surrounding environment. The difficulty of achieving smart objects is exemplified by the challenges faced by self-driving and fully autonomous vehicles.

Hope that in the coming days, we will be able to see many path-breaking innovations empowered by AI and automation. Smart technology is going to evolve our home, city, healthcare, and agriculture and usher us into a futuristic society.
