How to Slow Down Time

Time is the greatest illusion.
And I think you can tell a lot about the level of consciousness you're operating from by how you relate to time.
Right now, I feel in full abundance. I’m rooted in my higher self, and because of that, I just don’t feel rushed. I’m moving with intent, and there’s no urgency. Everything is smooth. I’m taking time during the day to chill on my hammock. I’m walking slower. I’m spending more time with my children. It feels like I have all the time in the world—and reaching my goals? Inevitable.
This is a big shift for me, because honestly, I haven’t always felt like this.
There was a time when I felt like I was constantly racing the clock. Like there wasn’t enough time. I had to do everything now. I always felt behind. That sense of urgency… it was relentless.
Why? Because I was rooted in lack.
I was operating from my ego, which is constantly comparing. And comparison is a great lie. It will always make you feel like you’re not enough. Like you’re behind. Like you're missing something.
But something has shifted in me recently.
I’ve stopped comparing. I’ve started focusing on my own race. And I’ve developed a deeper trust in something bigger than me. The Tao. A divine order. I’ve also developed a deep trust in my higher self—the version of me who is always present, always calm, and never rushed.
But I’d be lying if I said I operated like him all the time.
On Monday, I got caught in my ego again.?
How can I tell? Because I was rushing. I felt that old sense of urgency rise up. I got swept up in the excitement of a new idea, and my ego ran with it. That urgency crept in. It’s an energy I know all too well because it’s where I operated from most of my life. It’s a very excitable energy—very intoxicating.
But here’s the problem with creating from that place: it always leads to extra work and eventually requires force.
The idea I had? It’s still exciting. But it’s not ready yet.
Something I’ve learned is that whenever I feel rushed, it’s the surest sign to slow down.
So that’s what I did yesterday. I sat with the idea. I slowed time right down, tuned in, and connected with my higher self. And it became immediately clear that I was rushing. I was in my ego, not my highest self. So I made the decision at that moment to let the idea go.
My shoulders dropped. Instant relief.
Not from fear, but from a deep knowing.
A remembering that I have all the time in the world. There is no rush.
And if I ever need or want something, I can create it almost instantly—when I get aligned, give myself space, and ask for guidance.
Let me give you an example. Just before summer, I ran an intensive for 30 coaches. And I created it with total ease and zero stress. My wife asked me a couple of weeks beforehand, “Aren’t you concerned it won’t fill? When are you going to prepare?” And I replied, “Not at all. All I need is a little bit of space, alignment, and guidance.”
That’s exactly what I did. I moved my body, danced, sat in stillness, and asked for guidance. The answer came. The day filled up. And I created the content with ease just a few days before.
There’s a lesson here: When we are aligned with our highest self, time expands. There’s no rush, no pressure—just space to create, to be, and to move with purpose.
As Lao Tzu said,?
“Nature does not hurry, yet everything is accomplished.”
So here’s what I want you to think about:
Take a moment today to pause. Breathe. And remind yourself: you have all the time in the world. Everything you want is coming to you, in divine timing, and with total ease.
Keep dancing,?
