How Showing Up Fully Is A Win

How Showing Up Fully Is A Win

As someone that has worked in a lot of different spaces, it wasn't always in vogue to show up as your full self. I was taught that once you past through the threshold of the office you had to be someone else; be "professional", be "corporate". And nothing wrong with those ways of being, heck I'm all for a little decorum in the workplace. What is not talked about is how the projects are given out, who gets invited to an event because of how they look and what direction is given when recruiting/hiring as to "fit". It's this accumulated experiences of actions that lead people to not show up as their full self.

Showing up as less than whole can lead to people leaving the most important elements of who they are behind, in some it can be creativity, it can be passion, it can be imagination. All of these things being left behind taints the idea of what can be! Intellect mixed with imagination, passion and creativity is how we came up with the internet, GPS, autonomous vehicles, lithium power sources, closing the gender pay gap, inclusive work spaces, etc. Showing up fully is good for all.

As I move forward I'm committed to showing up fully. I'm a little weird, I'm funny, I'm serious, I'm an optimist, I like results and I'm always present. I'm all of these things and as I discover myself those discoveries will show up fully as well. More weirdness, imagination, results and purpose to come.

I LOVE this! Thank you so much for sharing this. I am a big believer in being true to yourself even if it can be intimidating at times (especially when society has made us think we need to be one way or another). Bravo! ??
