How To: Shopify Theme Customisation By Market & Language

How To: Shopify Theme Customisation By Market & Language

Shopify released the ability to adapt content by market a little while back and it’s amazing. I’ve not really seen a lot of brands using it however, so I thought I’d do a quick run through to try and build some awareness.

It’s a quick video but in 5 mins it covers:

  • Adapting content using theme customiser on an additional market.
  • Adding / removing sections on an additional market.
  • Translating those added sections into another language on that additional market.

Things to note that I didn’t cover in the video that are worth knowing:

1 - Any adaptations show little green icons so you know what modifications you’ve made to a non-deafault market. Anything that doesn’t have this symbol will still sync with changes to the default market.

2 - If you wish to revert your market based adaptations you can press the refresh button at the top of the template view. This will wipe any adjustments and return the market the shared default markets settings.

3 - If you have a market that does not support your default language you cannot add or modify sections. To add or modify sections you’ll need to go to that market in settings and enable the default market and then you can do evertyhing shown above.

(In the example below, the French market only supports the French lanuage).

Hope this is helpful and as always, any questions just ask :)
