How shifting from reactive measures to a proactive approach can transform your overall team's productivity and overall organisational culture.

Feeling frustrated with your team's productivity lately??

Many organisations struggle to find solutions and often lean on reactive measures like micromanaging, laying down strict rules, and punishing or blaming individuals and other teams.?

But these are not effective anymore.

While the goal is to address conflict immediately, these traditional reactive measures only affect our team negatively.

It doesn’t create a safe space for them to be seen and heard.

It makes them feel more stressed, overwhelmed and unappreciated.

It leads more team members to burnout which decreases the productivity of the whole organisation.

An important principle that I teach my clients to develop not only a better work environment but also to develop the potential and self-leadership capacities of their team members is this:

Self-leadership and Below-and-Above-the-Line Thinking.

Below-and-above-the-line thinking is one of the most common thinking behaviour models which is also known as Cause and Effect or Results VS Reason.?

This helps track where you and others are at all times in terms of body and verbal language and thinking and feeling.?

Imagine that there's a horizontal line.

If you're operating above the line, you take ownership, are responsible for your actions and accountable for your outcomes.?

You are positive, curious, and open. You make things happen.

If you're operating below the line, you blame others, make excuses, and are in denial.?

You procrastinate, react, are stuck, get overwhelmed, fear failure, you are a victim and everything is a problem.?

By promoting self-leadership and empowering teams to adopt above-the-line thinking, you help transform your organisation:

  • To have team members who take ownership and be accountable for their actions and outcomes.
  • To become solution-focused, display a positive attitude, curiosity, and an open mind.
  • To increase performance and have better decision-making.
