How to shift your focus from rules & grammar details to your message when speaking English
Hi?from Vera,
Carmen, a wonderful client of mine,?started our session by saying,?"Vera, it's only our fifth session together, but something is different. The moment I take the time to express my thoughts is more important than how I say them."
Her focus?shifted?from paying attention to every little detail in terms of grammar and vocabulary.?
Instead, she started to be in flow when she realised?mistakes are OK to happen?(even I, as a native speaker, am not perfect), and what matters is how she conveyed her message, how she connected with her international team, how she truly?enjoyed?speaking in English.
It's so easy to get caught up in details, get exhausted from chasing after perfection and eventually enter a?vicious cycle of fear and failure.
The way my client felt when she made?a conscious choice to be gentle with herself?and put all her energy into how she communicates in English is part of the deep work I do with every professional I collaborate with.
Her face was lit. Her?smile?was a sign that she was getting her confidence back.
The reason I am sharing this with you is simple. It is possible to find your?flow?and?confidence?and feel?safe?being yourself in another language.
The moment you decide your message and personality matter more than perfect grammar, vocabulary and accent, you are closer to?authentic communication in English. Writing like Shakespeare or speaking like a Harry Potter character isn't the goal.
So,?ask yourself:

First, let's get inspired by my client and shift our focus where it matters.
Second, let's give ourselves permission to ask for help when we need it the most.
Warmest wishes
