Ignore Industry Norms, Set Your Business Up To Serve You & The Life You Truly Want!

A man sat on a beautiful sweep of sand, looking out to the ocean without a care in the world.

In his hands were the shells he had found on his walk that morning which he was deftly crafting into a highly unusual necklace.

One day, a tourist approached him and said “These necklaces are unique. What do you do with them?”

The man replied casually, “I sell them to locals and to visitors”.

The tourist became very excited.

?“These are stunning!” he said.?“I can help you set up a factory where you could make them en masse. I’ll help you set up a marketing department to advertise them all around the world and recruit a sales team so you can sell millions of them.

“Why would I want to do that?” questioned the man.

“Well, you would be able to make millions and after several years of hard work, eventually retire!” said the tourist.

“But why would I want to do that?” said the man.

“Well, if you retire with millions in the bank, you can sit on the beach all day without a care in the world!”

For the first time, the man looked the tourist squarely in the eyes and said wisely, “That’s exactly what I do now”.

In these days of online businesses, it's easy to get carried away with the big figure incomes being dangled like a carrot in front of us. 6 Figures, 7 Figures and now I’m even seeing 8 Figures on offer.

This raises two issues for me.

1. It's awfully easy to get caught up in goals we think we should have because it looks like everyone else in our marketplace is aiming for them and hitting those sorts of targets.?We lose sight of what it is we are looking to achieve in our business.

2.??????Typically, what they don’t tell you is that a 7 or 8-figure business, has a marketing, logistical & operational machine behind them.

Building this is likely to be all-consuming as far as your time and energy are concerned and of course just because the revenue is high, it doesn’t mean the profits are!?

What’s that adage? Turnover is vanity, profit is sanity (Wish I’d learned that earlier in my own business journey!)

You see, I’m like many entrepreneurs/consultants/micro business owners whose focus is on the quality of my lifestyle NOW!

In other words, I just don’t want to work that hard anymore (and neither do my clients)
