How To Set Yourself For Success AFTER You Return From Vacation

How To Set Yourself For Success AFTER You Return From Vacation

As I ready to board a yacht in Croatia next week , I'll admit: I'm nervous to be away from the day to day of running my small business for 12 days, even though this trip is business development to the umpteenth degree. Thirty members of my Women's Leadership platform, spouses and kids are coming with me.

A wise friend said last week, "Well, everyone deserves time off."

Truth is---I'm burned out. As a result, I've been devouring content on 'How to Know When You are Burned Out' (hard time focusing, little things feel overwhelming, a bias toward negativity) and devouring content on 'How to Set Myself up for Success when I Return from Vacation." As divine as vacation can be for productivity, it's hard to remember when 4,000 emails are waiting upon return. I wrote a post about this earlier

This week, I defer to the wise words of Executive Coach, friend, and former COO of Morgan Stanley Europe May Busch.

In this video, she talks about two things: Thinking about what you want while on vacation. In other words, what are your long term goals? Then set yourself up for 'easy wins' upon return.

"When you step back into the office, your day-to-day work is going to take over once again. So you need to be prepared if you want to use the valuable insights you gained from thinking strategically about your longer-term career.
Take a moment to put those key actions into your calendar. Embed them into your processes at work so they’ll definitely happen.
Maybe it’s sending an email to your assistant to set up a meeting with your boss to have that important conversation you’ve been avoiding. Or reaching out to a former mentor who you’ve been meaning to get in touch with. Or booking that course or signing up to get that additional credential to set yourself up for the next level.
Then, you can enjoy the rest of your vacation knowing you’ve already set yourself up for a win when you return."

I plan to take it one step further. What can I plan NOW, before I go on vacation, that will make my transition back easier? I'm going to dedicate some time this coming Sunday to put those things into my calendar too.

I have a Mastermind for senior women leaders and business owners who have a goal and want to make it their lived reality in one year. Taking applications now for October enrollment. Dm me?[email protected]

My?name?is?Joya?Dass. I made?my?living as a television news anchor for 20 years. Very specifically, I covered the financial markets from the floor of the?New?York Stock Exchange. It was what I wanted to do since I was 4 years old. But I forged that career on?my?own, and had to build the network to get here. Nobody teaches this stuff in school. So I created a leadership platform to teach best practices around self leadership and networking. It's driven by conversations, both online and in person.

TWO WAYS TO ENGAGE WITH ME BEFORE WE LEAVE

Inflation is at a 40-year high. Interest rates are rising. And gas prices have hit a frightening $5 a gallon. And companies, who may already be too doing alot with very little, are starting to announce layoffs

You’re hearing that we may be in a recession, or one is inevitable.

It’s okay that you don’t feel things are okay. Next Tuesday July 12th, from 4-5 pm EST, a small group of senior women business leaders and those who head up teams share their best practices for surviving a recession, and what may apply now.

DM me if you would like to participate and I'll send you the Zoom link. Otherwise, feel free to join the conversation by adding yourself to this invite and I'll message you to send the Zoom link.?
