How to send the right signal with your wardrobe without looking corporate!

How to send the right signal with your wardrobe without looking corporate!

Your image is one of the most powerful tools to communicate who you are and what you stand for. Whether you're at a job interview, conference, or work meeting, how you present yourself can make a big difference in how people perceive you.

As a leader, it's essential to present yourself like the boss you are. That doesn't mean that you are stuck wearing the same corporate attire. It's important to dress according to your aesthetics and stay true to yourself.

That being said, you can easily incorporate certain styles into your wardrobe and create a signature image that will perfectly represent you while still looking professional and polished.

Wearing certain styles, you can send different messages depending on a silhouette, color, or print.

So Let's start with a Romantic style.

A romantic style is characterized by soft, feminine, and delicate features. This can include items such as lace, ruffles, floral prints, and flowing fabrics. The color palette for romantic style often includes pastels, floral patterns, and muted tones.

Here are some examples of how to incorporate this style into your wardrobe.

Let's look at a Preppy style:

Preppy style, also known as the "Ivy League" style, is a fashion aesthetic associated with traditional American universities, particularly those on the East Coast. It is characterized by a clean and polished look, focusing on classic, traditional pieces. In terms of clothing, the preppy style often features button-down shirts, khakis or chinos, polo shirts, and blazers or sports coats.

In addition, the preppy style also often includes a lot of sportswear, such as sweater vests, polo shirts, and rugby shirts, and is often associated with a preppy or "prep school" look.

These pieces are often made from natural, lightweight fabrics such as cotton, linen, and silk and often feature embroidery, fringe, or other decorative details. The color palette for the Boho style is usually earthy and natural, featuring colors such as beige, brown, and olive.

Thanks for this Basia and embracing these different styles. Funny that you should say pencil skirts! I used to like that look when I was in my 30s and I still remember the day I had to hop on a motorbike taxi in Thailand in a pencil skirt side saddle! Ever since I started to travel for work to Asia many years ago now, I started to wear clothes that are more flowing & adaptable, like me ??

I always love reading your newsletters, Basia!! Every time I do, I feel like I gain so much additional insight into the ways I can further develop my professional style! ?? I'm not someone who feels comfortable in dresses/skirts but recently I received an invitation to attend a formal gala. I would absolutely love to hear your thoughts on how to put together a formal outfit for women without needing to wear a dress. It's been so hard for me to find information on how to do so while maintaining the same formal appearance!
