How Self-Belief and Encouragement Can Change the Game

How Self-Belief and Encouragement Can Change the Game

Recently, I had the privilege to collaborate closely with a Senior Executive who had been in his role for a quite some. He sought support for interview and presentation preparation as he was head hunted for a new promotional opportunity.? Midway through the process, nerves set in, and his inner imposter took over. He decided to withdraw from the process and needless to say, I was gutted. I believed in him more than he believed in himself, and I knew that job had his name written all over it.

Despite my best efforts to convince him to reconsider, it seemed like a done deal from my perspective. However, a week later, the search firm he was working with begged him to at least go through with the interview. Reluctantly, he agreed. He did the interviews, delivered his 100-day plan seamlessly, and guess what? He landed the job.?

This experience reminded me how important a helping hand, encouragement, and reassurance can be. Sometimes, all it takes is someone else believing in you to reignite your confidence and push you towards success.

If you ever find yourself doubting your abilities or need a bit of encouragement, don’t hesitate to reach out. Sometimes, a little support is all you need to achieve great things.

Very true, Merlene. We can all suffer from imposter syndrome from time to time, especially those of us who have been the same job for a number of years. The encouragement from someone experienced in recruitment can make all the difference.
