How Self-Belief Can Change Your Life

“If you believe it, the mind can achieve it” – Ronnie Lott

Belief is one of the most powerful drugs in the world. You need to believe in yourself.

Believe that you can accomplish your goals. Believe that you are a good person. Believe that you can change the world.

Alongside self-belief is being around others who believe in you, especially when you don’t believe in yourself. This happened to Jordan Burroughs, US Olympic Gold Medalist Wrestler.

“If you lie down with dogs, you end up with flees” – Benjamin Franklin

Before he won Gold in 2012, he was an unknown. An underdog. Or as he says, “just a small, black kid from the United States”.

But not to his coach Mark Manning. No, Manning viewed him as the greatest wrestler in the world.

They would watch tape together before the Olympics and scout the world’s top wrestlers. Manning would tell Burroughs “you can beat these guys”.

The man who thinks he can and the man who thinks he can't are both right.” Confucious

At first, Burroughs shrugged off the high praise from Manning.

But over time, Manning got into his head. Once ingrained in his mind, this belief led Burroughs to become one of the best American wrestlers of all time.

“Faith is the 'eternal elixir' which gives life, power, and action to the impulse of thought” Napolean Hill

One’s mindset and beliefs can and will change the outcome of their lives.

But don’t be fooled. This can just as easily lead to negative results as it can be positive.

You need to know what not to believe.

Don’t believe you’re too good. Don’t believe you can get complacent. Don’t believe you’ve reached the peak.

Burroughs fell into this trap when he reached the 2016 Olympics in Rio. He came in as the favorite and left without a medal.

Your mindset can change your life.

You have options and unlimited potential.

Just believe.
