Your capacity for self-awareness increases your ability to influence outcomes and inspire others. Self-awareness allows you to both recognize your strengths and identify potential blind spots. Here are two things you can start doing now to increase your self-awareness as a leader:
- Informally ask others for their feedback. By being open to constructive criticism, you give yourself the chance to see how others view you.
- Schedule periods of reflection. Intentionally schedule time to reflect on your role in a task or situation. Consider what you did well, what could be improved, and what you will do next time.
