How Securitas Romania Looks from the Inside
Ten years ago (2014), I stepped into the headquarters of Securitas Romania. Over time, I avoided writing or posting photos online to prevent associating my image with this renowned company. Almost from the beginning, I have been a critic of the regulatory authority in the security industry, and to maintain my credibility, I had to remain impartial. This was a solid reason not to involve Securitas in these matters.
Time has passed, and I have realized that over these ten years, Securitas has transformed me. I have become more moderate, more calculated, and much better prepared professionally. Due to its multinational structure, Securitas has brought me several new perspectives.
Experience in a Global Company
First and foremost, the fact that Securitas holds global contracts with some of the world's largest companies across very different industries has opened new horizons for me regarding the concept of "large-scale security," the one that truly matters. The challenges are significant, but so are the consequences if you do not align with the rules of the game. Although I have always preferred independent thinking, it has been extremely interesting to observe how specialists from different parts of the world operate.
For example, we have access to approximately 700 Securitas specialists with various qualifications through the Workplace platform, a professional network similar to Facebook. The variety and ability to communicate with these experts represent an immense advantage. Inspiration comes hand in hand with access to case studies and best practices, and performance is ensured under specific conditions, which I will discuss later.
The Rigor of Multinational Companies
I cannot say it is ideal, but sometimes the rigor imposed by the leadership of the Securitas Group ensures a certain balance in decision-making. The complex audits, which consume time and resources, have a clear purpose: the company’s security and the guarantee that it remains on the Romanian market. As we well know, most other multinational security companies have left our country, some because they could not avoid bankruptcy.
Another noteworthy aspect is that the Securitas Group has been listed on the Stockholm Stock Exchange (Nasdaq Stockholm) since 1991.
Management Based on Solid Principles
Another novelty for me was realizing that the company’s management is based on rules and traditions that positively influence human quality and professional development. Securitas consistently acts to enhance professional growth and team cohesion, something rarely seen in medium-sized national companies.
I probably would have been stricter, being a perfectionist, but over time I have understood that Securitas’ adopted strategy is the most appropriate. Maintaining a balanced management approach ensures the efficient functioning of a complex system that involves not only operational activities but many other essential processes.

Challenges and Adaptability
While I have discussed the added value Securitas brings to the global security industry, I must mention that things are not as simple in Romania.
In 2016, I wrote an article on LinkedIn titled “Multinational Security Companies Are Forced to Make Superhuman Efforts in Professional Training.” Since then, the situation has not changed. Securitas faces numerous obstacles: incomplete legislation, absurd regulations, and a highly limited workforce.
Despite this, Securitas has adapted. The Group’s technology division has developed a series of systems and applications integrated into almost all global contracts. Additionally, Securitas has heavily invested in cybersecurity and data protection, offering integrated solutions for fire prevention, security system installation and maintenance, and operating a highly sophisticated monitoring center – Securitas Operation Center, where the latest AI-based technologies have been implemented.
People Make the Difference
Undoubtedly, Securitas' greatest asset is its team. People are the ones who add value, regardless of the capabilities of technology. Securitas has understood that in an era dominated by hidden interests, fairness, loyalty, and continuous development are the keys to success.
Finally, instead of a personal motivational message, I prefer to quote Drago? M?r?cine, General Director of Securitas Romania: "I am an employee who started at an entry-level position, and my entire career is an example that confirms the rule that continuous work, loyalty, and dedication yield results in the medium and long term. The advice I always give to my team is not to despair, to look towards the future, and to detach themselves from the desire to have everything instantly, without effort (a flaw I increasingly notice in Romanian society, unfortunately). I would also offer another piece of advice to everyone: always follow your heart! We must do what makes us happy, strive to achieve the maximum, even when we are not in ‘perfect’ situations.”
All the best!
