How To Score With Social Media...

In my experience, social media is just a way to say, "Hey, I'm the guy for the job".

Social media a very good podium to stand on so that people have a chance to learn more about you and your process while searching for the best product or service. The coming generations have more and more access to massive amounts of data and will choose the best candidate no matter what you're selling.

The winner usually looks like a "mini celebrity or authority".

Most people believe social media requires a large investment of time with nothing to show for it except the possibility of building relationships.

To that, I must say that 95% of the world would make the same point, which is why social media is indeed so powerful. Few actually know how to use it properly. Except, the ones who do are killing it.

From years of experience, I will tell you "sure, it does take some consistent work".

I suggest using social media to introduce yourself through your content. People usually don't care about you. They usually only care about what you can do for them. So show them what they want to see. The Goods...

Here's some important factors to acknowledge when approaching social media...

Choose a comfy platform

Choosing the right platform is very important (not for the potential prospects) for you, and the consistency of the material you put out there.

Youtube is a very powerful social media platform, but for those who don't like presenting in that form will lose steam quickly.

Also think about the tech, difficulty levels, and/or benefits between platforms. Think of it like a vehicle. It's okay to test drive a few first.

Linkedin, Facebook, etc. could be an awesome source for those who like to write articles and make conversation through groups. People will be impressed by a knowledgeable individual with consistency, well and above your competition.

Twitter is an entirely different animal altogether and has now teamed up with Google. There are gigantic opportunities here for the taking at the current moment.

Huge Tip - No Pun Intended

I didn't realize the potential for social media platforms until I started showing interest in others. I was posting lots of content and I felt that it was valuable for the clients but nobody knew my content existed. So no one visited.

Let's not forget that Facebook, Google, and Linkedin are genius platforms although, you must promote your content yourself.

The secret sauce is Promotion...

Promotion should be the main priority overall, after the content is in place. If you really think about it, there are 3 main aspects to the process. Marketing, Promotion, and of course Sales.

Separating these 3 main aspects and drilling down is essential. Marketing and promotion can be done passively, but making the sale is usually done in person. I see clients blur these lines constantly and it usually ends poorly.

How do I promote my content?

Friend, Subscribe, Comment, Share, Repost, Etc.

Get in the mix of things and you should start to get your stuff noticed. When you show interest in other people and their projects by friending them up or subscribing, they will be elated and wonder who this awesome guy or gal is who likes their stuff. They will then check your stuff out in return. And if they like your stuff, they will return the favor by liking, sharing, etc.

So, the product or service you are selling rarely ever matters. The quality of your content and how you promote your content will determine how successful you are at marketing your business with any content platform online or offline.

The best content promotion platform is your very own email list. More importantly, if you still feel like you don't have the time, a pay per click campaign will build your list within hours and you can target based on everything imaginable, "including data like location and income" for pennies per click.

If you need assistance with any web projects, I'd be happy to help. Feel free to message me anytime.
