How to Scale the Plateau
Question: "How do you scale a plateau?"
?"You turn it up!"
?“You lie on it”
“You walk on it”
?
Question: "Are you turning up?" OR Question: "How do you scale a plateau?"
?
?
As a teenager, I was captivated by the East African Plateau in my geography lessons. It seemed like a magical place I'd never reach but I allowed myself the indulgence of dreaming and contemplating what it would be like in the vast expansion that touches the infinite sky.
?
Is your growth finite or infinite like the sky?
?
Perhaps our plateaus are exactly the right place to set where there’s no obstruction or barriers to what we have in sight for ourselves in terms of our own growth and actualisation.? And yet, that place between places can last months or even years for some, so how do you keep on track?

As part of my recent PQ coaching and Mental fitness training by Coach Shirzard, I have been learning about “Accept or Convert”. Essentially Accept means just that, accept the situation for now and have peace with it instead of letting the situation wear you down.? The second part of it is to “convert” and thinking of the gift or opportunity in the situation.? And this aligns very well with the Sinek’s Circles of Influence.

"It is not the mountain we conquer, but ourselves." - Sir Edmund Hillary
?
Hillary's quote beautifully captures the essence of personal growth and overcoming challenges. It reminds us that the obstacles we face in life are often reflections of our inner struggles, and that by conquering ourselves, we can overcome any mountain, be it literal or figurative.
?
The works of Stephen Covey's "Circles of Influence" and Simon Sinek's emphasis on purpose and influence both focusing on what we can control and aligning our actions with our values and purpose, so we can create positive change and overcome the plateaus we encounter.
So, I will ask you again, "How do you scale a plateau?"
?
Secondly, “And are you in command of this?”
Thank you for your valuable time to read this. What do you think the buffalo is up to? Self Command or Not? How does this notion of the 'plateau' resonate with you? How do you navigate the plateaus?
Let's have a contagion - All I ask, 10% of what you like plus something you can add to this as Coach Shirzard taught me recently.
With love and anticipation, Juliet :)

5 个月What a beautiful post Juliet B. Interestinly someone mentioned Stephen Covey's Circles of Influence to me this week, the first time I'd heard of it and now you have mentioned it. The message is loud and clear about accepting things as they are at the moment and then looking at how to move on. For the word 'scale' in relation to a plateau I hear, 'tackle'. The plateau can be stretching as far as the eye can see, daunting but peaceful and beautiful. Taking one step at a time and observing where I am helps to tackle or scale the plateau. Thanks so much for sharing.
