What if there were a way to learn the perfect words to say and the perfect way to say it, no matter what the situation??
What if you could learn the secret to unlocking inspiration, influence, and understanding others on a deeper level??
There is a way, and it’s why I founded Pathos Labs.?
The approach
“Salt, fat, acid, heat†is more than a recipe book—it’s a book that trains you to?understand?food.
A cookbook that wants you to learn to?cook, not just follow a recipe.?
Many people can add ingredients one after another, letting the dish sit for so many minutes until it’s just right. But how many can?cook? How many can combine the raw elements of food into a masterpiece that’s never been seen before??
This is the philosophy at the heart of Pathos Labs: understanding over rote learning. Here, we don’t just teach you to communicate; we teach you to understand communication from the ground up.
Life’s unpredictability means no coach can offer a one-size-fits-all communication strategy.?
What we must do, instead, is teach you?about?communication, the principles that apply in every situation, no matter what.?
Become sovereign and take control of your life
We want to make you?independent?and?sovereign?thinkers, able to use your thoughts and your voice to communicate your vision to the world. Each person’s vision will be different; each will require different skills at different times.?
That’s where “first principles communication†becomes so useful.?
These are the basics of human communication—psychological principles that have stood the test of time and are the same for nearly every human on the planet, no matter where or when you find yourself.?
Principles like how to hook someone’s attention, or how to tell a story. Principles that will teach you how people learn, or how to persuade someone of something.
Principles that will hand you the keys to someone’s heart, that will draw you closer to another than you thought possible.?

Try this now
A?hook?is where you open a loop in someone’s thinking that you don’t close. A good hook violates expectations, poses a question or puzzle, or teases an unknown resolution. There are two principles behind this:
1. Human beings hate open loops—they make us psychologically uncomfortable. Think of a piece of music you know well, like the nursery rhyme “Mary had a little lambâ€. Now go to someone, or sing to yourself, “Mary had a little†and then stop before saying “lambâ€. There is almost a compulsion to complete the phrase. This psychological discomfort is what a hook achieves, and it ensures that the reader or listener will come with you so you can close that loop.
2. With so much information scrolling through our readers or listeners heads, we need a way to get them to read our content, to stop the scroll and pay attention. Enter the hook.
Try this on your own content—the next time you open an essay or a speech, say something that will wake the audience up; grab their attention at the start and they’ll stay with you (provided the rest of your talk or essay isn’t boring as sin).

These principles are powerful because they’re universal, timeless fundamentals of how we’ve communicated with one another since the dawn of humanity. They are hardwired into our biology, physiology, and psychology.
Once you know them, you no longer have to script every word in a conversation or sales pitch, no longer need to worry about how you’ll be perceived or if they’ll like you.?
You unlock the power to bring your vision to life.
You learn how to take the dreams you have in your head for a better world, the love you have in your heart for another, the mission that burns in your breast, and translate them into words, speeches, and letters that stand the test of time, words that people can rally around.
Words that move the world.
First Principles Communication is your key to becoming the best version of yourself that you can be, and letting others see that.
