How to save $ on travel

How to save $ on travel

As the end of the year is approaching, we are thinking of making a trip to a warmer place, as you know, the almost 6 months of cold weather really gets difficult at times to bear.?

I was looking at some places in the Caribbean the other day and found some nice options with more than 120 photos from resorts… As I was browsing through them I had the feeling that at the moment we base our decisions purely on a flat image. I mean, in this case, I perhaps browsed more than 100 photos easily.??

How about instead of browsing photos we would just get a way to “teleport” to the place and be able to look around and see if it is a real fit or not? At least we could see if the rooms, amenities, and overall theme of the hotel are what we are looking for. We could walk around and feel the atmosphere on another whole new level.?

So today my discussion is about using technologies to avoid overpaying or making wrong decisions by using virtual or augmented reality while saving money on traveling.?

More than a year ago, when it was launched, I had the opportunity to access Brink Traveller, an app in the Oculus store that allows you not only to visit amazing places in the world but also learn about them. I had been imagining what this technology can do for us in terms of saving us money before we buy tickets or even actually travel to know these places without having the uncomfortable travel in airplanes, because … how nice it is to go through all the hassle at airports and airplanes? I know we are getting close to this dream and that’s why we have decided to share a candid conversation that we had with Akin Bilgic, one of the founders of Brink Traveler, to talk about building his app and the nuances around it, especially photogrammetry.?

These are the main highlights of the episode:?

  1. The benefits of VR travel and its applications as well in education, healthcare, and historic documentation.
  2. How to design experiences for empathy and connection.
  3. The workflow to produce high-quality resolution photogrammetry.
  4. The main challenges in building VR photogrammetry.

Please let me know if you have any questions about this episode or what guests you would like me to bring next! ??
