How To Save An App Venture From Failure?

If anyone asks, how many apps do you regularly use on your phone, we probably would give them a number. It’s not uncommon and happens with all of us. We tend to forget a majority of applications we download. So, we can all agree, that of all the downloaded ones, not all are used on a regular basis.
But for developers and businesses that invest money and energy on app-development, forgetful applications are a downer! No one plans to invest on a thing that one day would stop bringing in revenues and would become redundant.
Hence, issues with an application should be dealt with objectively. Thus, it becomes highly important to find solutions and get rid of the problem.
Issue? Problem? What’s the catch?
After an app is successfully launched, if it stops getting used, the efforts of developers and investors hit the drains. It sounds cruel and harsh, but that’s a hard fact!
Getting maximum downloads is not an end in itself. One needs to make sure that a particular app becomes an inseparable and unavoidable part of a smartphone ecosystem. If it is not being used regularly, or has been forgotten by the users, there is definitely a problem with it.
What is crucial here is, to find a solution to that problem and make an app active and lively for… eternity, if I may.
But what causes apps to fail?
The most common answer to that question is, ‘preferences of the populace change with time.’ Dear friends, yes, it is ONE of the reasons but not the case always!
There are actual problems, not just changing moods and preferences of users. But do we ever wonder as to why do preferences change? If we think a little, we might realise that people end up choosing something new or different BECAUSE of a reason. Thus, ‘changing preferences’ is a consequence and not a reason in itself.
Then what is the reason, or the root cause, you may ask… Well, now that we have the apt question in hand, let’s get to the appropriate answer.
The answer is, a goof up in your development recipe! Yes, keep reading to understand this better.
The unintended goof up
Applications that lose their charm and users over time, do not always faulter with respect to the concept; many times, the concept is unique and great. But the apps are gone for a toss because of the ignorance in development phase! Sad, but true.
The following can prove to be potential downers for your application. Get a hang of them and stop your application from becoming a failure; the tips would help for sure. ??
- Ignoring the app design
The ultimate recipe for apps to hit the trash bin is this… great app concept but poor design.
One cannot afford to skimp on or avoid app-design! It binds the users visually, gets them further hooked and the application gets fully utilised, almost always.
The design should be clean, should give users a seamless experience. In order to achieve that, one needs to empathise with the users.
Some amazing ingredients of good design recipe are – engaging layout and colours, good image resolution, great UI, smooth UX, right placing of buttons and icons etc.
- Compromising on the user base
In the race to develop a perfect app, one should make sure to not take a chance of missing on users. Users are guides for any business to make a perfect application. It is erroneous to develop an application without keeping in mind the user.
It is crucial to understand the requirements and expectations of the prospective customers. Apps should necessarily translate their needs.
Study and analyse your application, user base, market etc., in depth. Once you are well acquainted with these, the chances for your application to become a hit, would increase!
- Marketing
Marketing plays a pivotal role and you can’t afford to miss this; its importance cannot be emphasised enough!
Marketing gives voice to your product!!
App-development is a process that is an amalgam of several other processes which cannot be missed; marketing is one such indispensable process. You can’t just do away with it… and if you wish for your application to be a hit, you should not!
Marketing your apps increase their reach; they will be easily noticed, acknowledged and used by the populace. This is what is expected from an application, isn’t it…?
- A bug-filled ride
Need I elaborate more?
An experience full of glitches and bugs is a big NO! Especially, if you wish to succeed and stay relevant in this constantly-evolving realm.
Bugs and crashes sustain in absence of a thorough app test. Make sure, kindly, MAKE SURE to run several tests for your application before it gets to the market.
- Undefined target audience
Target audience for any product should always be kept in mind. Building an app just for the namesake, without realising the kind of audience to cater to, is a blunder!
How would you garner a large user base if you don’t know which audience is ‘your audience’, your potential clients?
Hence, do not beat around the bush and have a clear and crisp idea about your target audience.
- Poor engagement
Customers should stay loyal to your app and should enjoy the process all along. For that to happen, they need to be assured that it’s worth their time and energy.
Therefore, building a relationship with the client can prove to be highly beneficial!
The competition is cut-throat these days, the best idea alone wouldn’t suffice if it fails to deliver, remember that!
If you wish to be the best, you’d have to defeat the best and that’s no cakewalk!!
