How Sales Impact your Business Today
Have you ever wondered how important selling within your business is actually affective? Sales no matter how big or small is vital to a business' success. To become successful in your sales you must be able to create a customer relationship. This relationship must be built on loyalty and trust. Interactions with a customer will determine if the sale goes through of not. Also, sales help with fully understanding marketing and the marketing field.
I had the opportunity to interview an Oklahoma Baptist University alumni, Tristan Villa. Tristian works with inbound sales at Rocket Dollar, Inc. Villa explained that he did not choose to work in sales, but he understood that he wanted to better understand marketing strategies and how the sale cycle influences buyers. Selling is so much more than just trying to close a deal. It is all about understanding a customer and their wants and needs. In sales, you must be able to identify what customer behaviors mean and how you must use appropriate strategies based on where your customer is.
Sales can have many rewards when you have a good run, but there are many challenges when working in sales. When talking with Villa, he said "The biggest challenge that I have had in sales is understanding a customer’s issue/question and in some cases a customer not understanding my response." Communication is one of the key factors in sales and it is important for you to acknowledge that everyone has a different way in communicating. You must be able to adapt to certain situations and use your communication techniques to help a customer understand.
To be successful in sales you must understand your customer and learn how to communicate well. You must also know your products or services very well and know how to explain it professionally. Villa explained that in order to be successful you must “be willing to do a little extra. This would include follow up emails and sending a customer additional resource.” Your reputation means everything while in sales and you must be as professional as you can.
Sales is knowing your customer and understanding how to help them while making a deal. You must be able to put in work to understand your sales field. With challenges within the field you can grow and improve your selling force.
