DeepSeek’s business model is an opensource system, meaning it will not make any money from licensing its AI engine. It will make moderate revenue from the use of its API. However, this is peanuts compared to how it intends to monetize its platform.

Just read an extract from DeepSeek’s privacy policy, which states, "will collect keystroke data, IP addresses, and even tracks actions outside the app."

This alone should be enough to make people think twice about using DeepSeek”.

You may say, we all leak huge amounts of personal data to big US tech companies, so what is the difference.

There are several differences.

First, the above DeepSeek statement makes it unbounded to the extent of data it can collect on you, your friends and family.

Secondly, let's talk about the elephant in the room. DeepSeek is a Chinese company and so the Chinese government can and most likely will gain access to DeepSeek's data. Therefore, the Chinese government will know more about you than what the UK or US government know about you.

Let's pause a second, DeepSeek could at least in theory grab every password you hold that you type and is not beyond the stretch of imagination that the Chinese government could order DeepSeek to provide that data to them.

For these reasons, although I am intrigued to play around with DeepSeek I will not be tempted and am not going to install DeepSeek, and even if I had done I will uninstall the app immediately now knowing what data it will continually siphon from me
