As a huge Ohio State Fan (and a fan of a few other teams), I really enjoy Ryan Day's passion. You may have seen an influx of #DeathThreats against Ryan Day after yet another loss vs. Michigan this past year; this has largely subsided after the National Championship win.
To that end, as the largest non profit of its kind globally, TravelingWiki has seen huge challenges with bullying, innuendo and so much more affecting those with Non Visible Disabilities, especially those with communicative challenges that cannot defend themselves in the same way as others and often occur in situations of intellectual challenges that present situations where they may not see the world in the same way(s) as others.
To see the real life ACTUAL impact for families of threats that quickly arise from the combination of tension, rumors and beyond, TravelingWiki spent today with the head of Ryan Day's security detail, Brian Carmichael, which literally employed remote monitoring to watch Ryan Day's residence to ensure the safety of his family. Most or all of the Non Visible Disability Community cannot afford this; with that being said, the necessity and real world implication(s) of this kind of protection is/are a good remainder of how quickly idle chatter and rumors can get serious. Thank you again to Brian Carmichael for time today.
