How To Run Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn or YouTube ads… Profitably!

How To Run Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn or YouTube ads… Profitably!

Around this time last year, just after lunchtime (in Portugal) I got a notification on my phone.

” New email”

That was before I knew better not to have all kind of notifications turned on.

Fast-forward to today the only push notifications I get on my phone are incoming calls. And that is when the phone is on and not on silence. This little change made wonders for my 1) productivity 2) focus and 3) growth, both business and personal wise.

I digress.

So, this email was from my client.

At this point, we have been working together for 2-3 weeks and in this email, she mentions that she feels we are now ready to move into paid traffic, she feels that organic methods will take longer and we need to move to paid traffic…

PRONTO!

Ok… I love paid traffic.

I have been working with Facebook ads for years and gotten amazing results not only for me but for my clients. Facebook ads is actually phase #4 on my signature program (Coaching 10x) but I know that Facebook ads is not a magic pill of money in money out.

So, I answered the email:

"Hi dear, hope you are doing well. Yes, perhaps move to Facebook ads could be a good idea, but only if we are at a place where we can answer these 4 questions and give at least 5 different answers for each question."

1.  Who is your perfect client?

2.  What are their goals

3.  What are their fears and paint points?

4.  What are the challenges they face when trying to achieve their goal (#2)

13 minutes later she answers:

Client: “can we jump on a call?”

Me: “Yes, here is the zoom link I will be on in 5 min”

Instead of me going through all of the conversation let me just jump straight to the punch line here.

When we move into paid ads it is extremely important to have these 3 key elements well defined.

  1. Whom are we targeting?
  2. What goal are they (the perfect client) trying to achieve?
  3. What can you provide that will help them get close to that goal (free of charge)?

Nobody logs into Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn or any social media for that matter, wanting to be sold to.

When an ad pops up it is interrupting what that person is doing.

This is why ads such as “50% off on your first consultation” or “book your free call to find out how I can help you live a healthier life” always flop.

Free money for Zuckerberg

The guy is already rich… don’t add to it without you having any return??

A successful ad strategy will stop your perfect client in their tracks and enter the conversation they keep having with themselves.

Once we do that we are POSITIONING ourselves and therefore earning attention and trust.

Attention and trust are the only 2 currencies that dictate the success of your coaching business.

Nobody will buy your services if they don't trust you can deliver, and you won't be able to get them to trust you if you don't have their attention...

So…

If your target audience are new mothers that want to lose baby weight and want to go to the gym and exercise to get rid of that excess fat but have no time to go to the gym because she is with the new baby 24hrs a day. Your ad should enter that conversation they are having in their mind.

Example:

“Are you a new momma that is struggling to lose pregnancy weight and do not have the time to go to the gym? I have recently put together a guide with the 7 most effective exercises you can do at home that will help you lose that stubborn fat”

Mom clicks

Mom downloads the guide

Mom reads the guide with awesome tips and tricks (make this guide valuable, you don’t want your prospect to get low value info in the first interaction with you)

and right on the last page you have a free 20 minute consultation link.

Let’s recap.

1)  Earn their attention (enter the conversation in your prospect’s mind)

2)  Earn respect (provide REALLY good information)

3)  Now extend your offer for a free consultation (this is optional… I personally like to further nurture the lead)

Now you have a lead, that you can continue to interact with via email.

This also helps you continue to grow your e-mail list.

There you have it, one of the many strategies for a successful Facebook ad.

Oh and no, we ended up not launching her Facebook ads… when working with a client I think it is imperative to first focus on getting a couple 1:1 clients organically and get as much info on those 4 questions before we moving on and invest on ads.

Have you tried Facebook ads before? What was your experience?
