How to Run 1,000 Miles.

How to Run 1,000 Miles.

Today, I ran my 1,000th mile for the year!?

?That’s the most I’ve ever run in a single year by a longshot. ?

?How did I do it??

?The obvious answer is, “I ran a bunch.” ?

?The longer answer is, “I have a secret weapon.” His name is @Mike_Peasley. He’s an assistant professor with a PhD. He’s also a big part of the reason I ran 1,000 miles in 2019.?

?How? Because the techniques I used this year weren’t based on guessing. They were based on research. ?

?Mike and I have spent the last three years testing performance ideas with thousands of people. We enhance the ones that work and drop the ones that don’t.?

?For example, in order to run 1,000 miles, I started with a goal of 750 miles. ?

?Why? ?

?Because in our research for my book “Finish,” we learned that people who got the initial size of their goal right were 63% more successful than people who over estimated what they could accomplish. ?

?I also made my running goal fun. ?

?Why? ?

?Because people who made their goals fun raised their performance success by 46%.?

?I put both of those ideas in “Finish.” You can get a copy for $10 on Amazon.?

?I used those ideas from “Finish” all year and guess what? They worked for me like they did for the thousands of people who helped us test them.?

?I also worked on my thought life for my running goal. ?

?That might feel a little counterintuitive, but we just completed another massive research project for my new book about “Overthinking.”?

?One of the techniques that will be in the book helped participants finish 78% more of their goal than people who didn’t use it. ?

?I tried the technique with my running. It worked. My goal never stood a chance.?

?If you’ve got a big goal for 2020, grab a copy of “Finish” here :

?Do stuff that works. Drop stuff that doesn’t.?

?I wish it was more complicated than that, but it’s not. ?

?Miles don’t run themselves. Pages won’t write themselves. Businesses won’t build themselves.

Yo. Coach Henderson. Still coaching.

"?Do stuff that works. Drop stuff that doesn’t.?" So simple that it's no wonder people are likely to miss this very thing.
