How Rookie Thinking is Helping me to be Successful Once Again

Have you ever thought about how you had been when you were a twelve-year-old child? Curious, energetic, innovative, open to learning and rebel - in some cases. But what's now when you are a veteran in your field, are you still carrying the same Rookie mindset? Of course, most of you are with the later part of the question. Imagine for a while that how much successful you can be if you carry the same rookie mindset when you get your first job to your whole professional career.

It's been 8 years since I've moved to the USA from Venezuela and again made huge success due to my rookie thinking and mindset. Here are three big points for every professional who is either looking for a job, a beginner, or a veteran that how thinking like a rookie can make you a success story:

Rookies Think Out of the Box:

From my vast experience of 30 years as an architect, what I've observed is that a rookie thinks beyond the boundaries and doesn't rely on preconceived notions. As he doesn't have any prior experience, he thinks of every possibility of working out the problems compared to a veteran who thinks in his “comfort zone” and?relies just on his previous experience.

Rookies?always look to solve the Problems:

Try to remember your first job, how curious, fearless and logical you were, always looking for growth, improvement, and help when needed, and compare it to your veteran mindset. Don't you find a clear difference of approach! Being a rookie makes you think more wide, curious, and logical. A rookie tries his best to solve the problems and seek expertise if needed. As compared to a veteran, a rookie is four times more likely to seek help to solve the problems.

Rookies always have a thirst for Success:

Rookies are quick learners and always quick yet efficient and cautious. They are result-oriented. Think yourself back to the first year of your job or business that how much hungry you were for success and always brainstorm the ideas to bring innovation and make your share towards the success of the company or business respectively. Rookies observe things more efficiently and learn very quickly.

How Rookie Thinking Helped me:

After shifting to the USA, it was a big challenge for me to start over my career once again because there is a lot of difference in the architectural practices of the USA as compared to Venezuela. But I didn't get nervous and accepted this challenge to groom myself even more.

With my "Rookie Mindset," I got my first project in no time, I accept the challange to work with Cayman Manufacturing as a Project Manager in coordination with Gensler Architecture – The largest architectural firm in the USA, and Miller Construction – one of the most important General Contractor in South Florida. The project turned out a great success, and all that was possible because of my rookie mindset.

So, here's the point I want you people to remember, It doesn't matter how experienced, aged, and pro you are, always think like a rookie and a fresher. You will make a continuous success.
