HOW TO ROAST MEAT AT YOUR WORKPLACE

A wise king once said that "The lazy man does not roast what he caught in hunting: but the substance of a diligent man is precious."

When we talk about laziness, we usually associate it with not doing anything at all. But that's not all that there is to it.?

My friend saw the scripture I quoted from the wise king and here's what he said;

"Laziness is not the absence of work, it is the absence of excellent work"?

Roasting meat at your workplace talks about delivering your skills, abilities, knowledge, experience in their best forms at work.

An unrefined skill, knowledge, or experience is as good as no skill at all because it will get the work done but with time, what was done may not be sustainable and may not stand the test of class, time, character, or integrity.?

DEVELOP A HIGH SENSE OF GOOD

I learned this from a senior friend yesterday. In the biblical account of creation, God would create,? check what He created, and based on an image he had in His mind, He approved it as Good.?

Humans also work this way, your evaluation of a thing as perfect is always relative to a subconscious definition of good that you have built over time. This sense of good can be developed by exposure to the best kinds of results in your field.?

For example, A designer builds his sense of good for designs by exposing himself to the best designs on Behance, Pinterest, etc. A web developer does that by checking the best and most efficient websites on the internet.?

As they do this, their definition of "Excellent" is refined.?

BE INTENTIONAL ABOUT GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT

As you expose yourself to the best good around the world, you must also be willing to grow your skills to match up the requirements for producing such results.?

You must take time to learn the skill, train yourself, call out for mentorships, attend webinars, join accountability cycles.?

You must do all that it takes to refine your skill so that you will be able to do what you do in a way that matches up with the best sense of good.?

BE INTENTIONAL ABOUT EXCELLENCE?

Every time you have the opportunity to do what you do, ensure that you give them the time, energy, and commitment required to produce the best result.?

Excellence is primarily a mindset built by exposure to the best works, the best people in their fields, and a commitment to consistent growth.

MAINTAIN A CONSISTENT PERSONAL EVALUATION CYCLE

As time goes on, the best sense of good around us changes. The definition of excellent increases with the increase in knowledge and experience around the world.?

To match up, you must consistently evaluate yourself. Question your present best, push for a new best and push for newer bests.?

On a lighter but critical mood, if you have a leadership position in your team or you have the privilege of freedom, you could make work fun by grilling meat at work.

You can do this as part of a brainstorming session. You will be amazed to find out that people share the best ideas when well-grilled meat is in their mouths.

You can also do this to celebrate a teammate's birthday or the date your team was added to the organizational structure.

Just make sure that while working, you and other people in your team can have all the fun.
