How rising Permian flaring levels may impact operators.

In a new report by Validere and East Daley Analytics , industry experts explore the outlook for infrastructure constraints in the Permian and the near-term potential for increases in flaring rates. The report also explores what operators can do to limit the environmental impact of rising flaring rates.

Slower production growth and the in-service of major gas pipeline projects have recently kept Permian flaring in check, but an analysis of current rig counts signals a production growth pace that may soon exceed gas takeaway capacity.?

“With Permian flaring levels likely to rise, operators in the basin will face increased environmental scrutiny,” says Jen Snyder , Senior Advisor at Validere. “It will be more important than ever to monitor both new and old flares, to ensure that this increase in flaring doesn’t also cause a sharp uptick in methane emissions.”
