Every year, on the third Thursday of November, the American Cancer Society hosts the Great American Smokeout, a national event that encourages people to take a step towards a healthier life by reducing their commercial tobacco use for the day. The goal is that this one day of practice and support can help people along the recovery journey. The first cohort of Recovery Community Organizations to go through MARCO's certification process have been certified! MARCO’s certification process is designed to help organizations build and strengthen the vision, purpose, fidelity, and operations that make them RCOs. Community peer reviewers evaluate organizations in 11 areas that align with Recovery Community Organizations (RCO) national standards and Minnesota statutes. Over the coming months, we are going to be giving you a snapshot of each evaluation area and fill you in on what makes an organization an RCO!
