Do you often stare into a packed wardrobe and think "I’ve got nothing to wear!" ?
Well, you’re not alone!?
Probably you are aware of this, but multiple research confirms it: we only wear 20 percent of our wardrobes 80 percent of the time.?
The 2 main reseasons why our wardrobe isn’t working for us are
How can you build a sustainable wardrobe when you don’t know your personal style? It triggers of vicious cycle of buying more, wearing it less as it doesn’t fit your style, more confusion, and buying again new clothes.?
The answer doesn’t have to be a shopping spree, but (re)discovering your personal style - and you can do that with what you already have in your wardrobe - there is a reason you bought it, right??
But first, let’s go to the root cause.
Why do I have a full wardrobe with “wrong” clothes?
There are plenty of reasons that we end up with a wardrobe full of the "wrong" clothes.
From relentless advertising on social media to rapid trend cycles that keep us constantly buying new clothes, regardless of whether they fit our style.
"In this age of massive information and a lack of time to think it through, it’s very hard to decipher what thoughts are truly our own. This comes to everything in life, including style. While style is may not your priority, it has a huge impact on how you feel, and thus any other aspects of your daily life.?
So it’s more important than ever that you go on a journey to discover what optimizes your values, body, and lifestyle.
Should I stop shopping?
While I’m not in a place to say you should stop shopping due to budget reasons, when it comes to shopping for your style, I have a few words to say.
I’m definitely not against (online) shopping. I can truly enjoy it and shopping therapy is a thing - if you use it as a wellness tool and not a coping mechanism.?
I’m against overconsumption and a lack of thought when shopping. As a digital stylist and wardrobe consultant, when I let you buy something, it’s because of that item’s potential to unlock far more outfit options in your wardrobe.
Therefore, knowing your style is important. To have a good foundational, curated wardrobe that can welcome items to have even more options.?

Use Your Core Style as Framework
As style is a tool to express ourselves, it takes a bit of work, introspection, and knowing who we are. Due to the high pressure in our daily lives, we don’t take the time for it. But without knowing your values, you cannot shop for the right items that enhance your personality and career and fit the lifestyle you aspire.?
As time is precious and knowing yourself key to build a wardrobe that supports your (life)style, I simplified the way to look at your personal style: The Core Style Method.
There are so many style rules, but in the first place It’s really about figuring out who you are, and who you want to present to the world, and then you can create a picture of your personal style. Forget about camouflaging your mid-section and making yourself taller. In every style, you can implement those style rules.?
When you have clarity about your values and preferences, you can reduce your personal style to 1 Core Style of the 8.?
The 8 different Core Styles are: Classic, Feminine, Innovative, Bold, Eccentric, Sportive, Comfortable Casual, and Casual Chic.?
If your time is limited, you can use your Core Style to check it again the outfit and item choices you make and you will be right and can build a cohesive wardrobe with essentials. When you have more time, you can start playing with it within the framework. For example, when you have a classic style and have a date, you can incorporate some feminine touches into your outfit like a pencil skirt with a higher split. Feminine yet still very classic.
Also, we have different transitional phases in our life. Perhaps you’ve had a baby or a working more from home. Even when you have a very eccentric, colorful style, you can lean towards more comfortable casual homewear that are still colorful and have joyful prints.?
