?? How to respond to Job Vacancy posts on LinkedIn! ??

Today, I wanted to highlight an important topic that often goes overlooked when engaging with job vacancy posts on this incredible platform: the etiquettes of responding and commenting. There have been numerous posts on different versions of the same advice. But here goes another one, yet again!

As professionals, it's crucial to leave a lasting positive impression, and that starts with how we approach these opportunities.

Your reply, comment or response to a post shows how sincere, committed and willing you are to pursue a particular job opportunity.

Here are some common etiquettes to keep in mind when responding to job vacancy posts on LinkedIn:

1?? Be professional: Always maintain a high level of professionalism in your responses. This means paying attention to grammar, spelling, and punctuation. Remember, you are showcasing your communication skills to potential employers.

2?? Personalize your response: Avoid the pitfall of generic or copy-paste messages. Take the time to personalize your response for each opportunity. Highlight specific details from the job posting that caught your attention and explain why you're a great fit.

3?? Introduce yourself: Start your response by introducing yourself. Share your name, current position (if applicable), and any relevant experience or qualifications that make you a standout candidate. Make a strong first impression!

4?? Express enthusiasm: Show your genuine excitement for the opportunity. Explain why you're interested in the role and the company. Let your enthusiasm shine through by demonstrating your motivation and passion for the industry or field.

5?? Address the hiring manager or poster by name: If the job posting mentions the name of the hiring manager or the person who posted it, address them by name. This personal touch adds warmth and shows that you've done your research.

6?? Ask relevant questions: Engage in meaningful conversation by asking thoughtful questions about the job, company culture, or any other pertinent information. This demonstrates your interest, initiative, and research efforts.

7?? Keep it concise: Respect the reader's time and keep your response concise. Avoid lengthy essays but provide enough information to highlight your qualifications and interest. Succinct and impactful messages leave a lasting impression.

8?? Proofread before posting: Always double-check your response for errors or typos. A well-polished message demonstrates your attention to detail and professionalism. Review it carefully before hitting that "Post" button!

9?? Follow up: If you haven't received a response after a reasonable period, consider sending a polite follow-up message to inquire about the status of your application. However, remember to be patient and avoid being overly pushy or impatient.

?? Be respectful and polite: Regardless of the outcome, always maintain a respectful and polite tone. Thank the person for considering your application, even if you're not selected for the position. Building positive relationships is essential.

Do's and Dont's when you reply or comment on a Linkedin post:

  1. Read the post and understand the requirements. If the requirements are incomplete, unclear or if you do not satisfy the requirements completely, please be polite and request if your profile would be considered if you could fill the gap and satisfy the missing requirements in the meantime.
  2. Do not use single word replies like "Interested", "How much", "Where". The employer does not care if you are interested in the Linkedin post, they only want to see your passion, enthusiasm and potential in the actual position. The employer also does not have the time to go and check every single profile or reach out to every single one who commented. If someone is really interested, they would reach out via Message or even reply with request for contact.
  3. Do not send messages that are vague and unclear. It is not Facebook. So, be professional, precise, short and simple.
  4. Do not pester the employer with messages. It doesn't matter if you send 1 message or 10 messages. If the employer finds the right information or a potential candidate, they will reach out.
  5. As much as you need the job, the employer also needs a good candidate with the right attitude and correct skill profile. It has to be an organic interaction to last atleast a few months. So be more thoughtful and less impulsive.

Remember Linkedin is a professional medium and not the regular social network like Facebook.

By adhering to these etiquettes, you'll create a lasting positive impression and increase your chances of landing that dream job. Remember, every interaction on LinkedIn contributes to your professional reputation, so let's make it count!

Wishing you all the best in your career pursuits!
