How to reset or refresh a computer without uninstalling Windows

Earlier today, I found myself in need of help as I tried to reset my old PC. I ended up searching for articles online, seeking guidance. So, I thought, why not share my journey with you all? Come along as I navigate through the process, just like I did in a few steps

To perform a "refresh" or "reset" operation in Windows 10:

  1. Open Settings: Click on the Start menu, then click on the gear icon to open Settings.
  2. Navigate to Update & Security: In the Settings window, click on "Update & Security."
  3. Choose Recovery: In the Update & Security menu, select the "Recovery" option from the sidebar.
  4. Reset This PC: Under the "Reset this PC" section, click on the "Get Started" button.
  5. Choose an Option: You'll be presented with two options: -Keep my files: This option will remove apps and settings but keep your files intact -Remove everything: This option will remove all personal files, apps, and settings.
  6. Remove everything: This option will remove all personal files, apps, and settings.
  7. Follow the Prompts: Depending on your selection, follow the prompts to complete the reset process. Windows will guide you through the necessary steps, which may include restarting your computer.
  8. Reinstallation: During the reset process, Windows will reinstall itself, keeping the core operating system files intact while removing any installed apps and settings.
  9. Completion: Once the reset is complete, you'll need to go through the initial setup process again, including setting up user accounts and preferences.

It's worth mentioning that the process took me around 2 hours to complete, though your experience may differ.

Additionally, the steps may vary slightly depending on your Windows version, so ensure your PC is plugged in and be patient. Don't forget to back up any crucial files before initiating the reset to prevent data loss.
