How to Repurpose Blog Content Easily

Have you ever wondered what you can do with content after it's posted on your blog? If so, you're not alone. Many find themselves pondering how best to extend the lifespan and reach of their blog posts. The good news is that there are numerous options for repurposing content to maximize its value. Here are some strategies to help you effectively repurpose your blog content, driving more traffic and enhancing your overall marketing efforts.

Why Repurpose Content?

Repurposing content isn't just about recycling old material to save time. It's about reaching new audiences, reinforcing your message, and breathing new life into valuable content. When you repurpose content, you:

  1. Increase Visibility: Different formats and platforms mean reaching different segments of your audience.
  2. Save Time and Resources: Creating new content from scratch can be time-consuming and resource-intensive. Repurposing allows you to leverage existing content efficiently.
  3. Reinforce Your Message: Repeated exposure to your message across various formats can help reinforce key points with your audience.
  4. Boost SEO: More content in various formats can contribute to improved search engine rankings.

Here's a step-by-step guide on how to repurpose your blog content effectively.

Repurpose Content into Different Formats

Different content formats work better on various platforms and for different audiences. Here are some ideas for transforming your blog post into other engaging formats:

a. Infographics

Infographics are visually appealing and easily shareable. They can distill complex information into digestible visual chunks, making it easier for your audience to understand and remember. Tools like Canva and Easil can help you create professional-looking infographics.

b. Videos

Videos are increasingly popular and can engage audiences in ways text alone cannot. Create a video summarizing your blog post or delve deeper into specific points. Platforms like YouTube and Vimeo are excellent for hosting your videos, and you can share snippets on social media.

c. Slide Decks

Turn your blog content into a slide deck presentation.?

d. Podcasts

If you have an engaging voice and enjoy speaking, consider turning your blog post into a podcast episode. This allows you to reach an audience that prefers audio content, such as commuters and multitaskers.

e. E-Books and Whitepapers

Compile a series of related blog posts into a comprehensive eBook or whitepaper. This can be a valuable resource for your audience and serve as an excellent lead magnet.

Share Content as an Opt-In Lead Magnet in an Email Sequence

Email marketing remains one of the most effective ways to convert leads into customers. Repurposing blog content into an email sequence can nurture leads by providing them with valuable information over time. Here's how to do it:

a. Create an Email Series

Break down your blog post into a series of emails. Each email should cover a specific aspect of the blog post and include a call-to-action (CTA) to encourage further engagement.

b. Personalize Your Emails

Leverage the information you have about your subscribers to personalize the content. Personalized emails have higher open and click-through rates.

c. Automate the Sequence

Automate the sequence using email marketing platforms like ActiveCampaign, ConvertKit, or HubSpot. Automation ensures that every new subscriber receives the series in the correct order.

Use Content for Social Media Outreach

Social media is a powerful tool for reaching a broader audience. Repurposing blog content for social media can drive traffic back to your blog and increase engagement. Here's how to do it effectively:

a. Create Social Media Posts

Extract key points from your blog post and create short, engaging social media posts. Use eye-catching visuals and CTAs to encourage shares and interactions.

b. Craft Stories and Reels

Platforms like Instagram and Facebook allow you to create stories and short video reels. Use these formats to highlight exciting tidbits from your blog post.

c. Host Live Sessions

Go live on platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn to discuss the topic of your blog post in real time. Engage with your audience by answering their questions and encouraging discussions.

d. Leverage Hashtags

Use relevant hashtags to increase the visibility of your posts—research trending hashtags in your niche to tap into ongoing conversations.

Use Content as a Freebie (Bonus) for Purchases

Repurposed content can also serve as a value-added bonus for your customers. Offering exclusive content can incentivize purchases and build customer loyalty.

a. Create Exclusive Content Bundles

Bundle your blog content into exclusive resources, such as downloadable PDFs, guides, or templates. Offer these bundles as bonuses for customers who make a purchase.

b. Offer Access to Webinars

Host a webinar that explores the topic of your blog post. Offer free access to the webinar to customers who purchase a product or service.

c. Include Content in Membership Sites

If you have a membership site, repurpose your blog content into valuable resources for your members. This will add value to your membership offering and keep your audience engaged.

Syndicate Your Content

Content syndication involves republishing your blog post on other platforms to reach a broader audience. This can drive additional traffic to your blog and improve your search engine rankings.

a. Identify Syndication Platforms

Platforms like Medium, LinkedIn Pulse, and industry-specific sites are great for syndicating content. Ensure that these platforms allow for syndication and provide proper attribution to the original source.

b. Follow Best Practices

Always include a canonical link to the original post when syndicating content to avoid duplicate content issues. Customize the introduction to suit the syndication platform's audience.

c. Track Performance

Use analytics tools to monitor the performance of your syndicated content. Track metrics like views, engagement, and referral traffic to measure the success of your efforts.

Repurposing blog content is a smart strategy for maximizing the value of your content, reaching new audiences, and enhancing your overall marketing efforts. By exploring different formats, leveraging email marketing, engaging on social media, offering exclusive bonuses, and syndicating your content, you can ensure that your valuable insights continue to make an impact long after the initial publication.

Remember, content repurposing is an ongoing process. Review your existing content regularly to identify opportunities for repurposing and stay creative in finding new ways to engage your audience. With the right approach, you'll be able to extend the lifespan of your content, drive more traffic, and achieve your marketing goals.

Julie Pierson-Fields - this was an excellent and well thought out article. The point that particularly stood out for me are ebooks. As a writer who works with authors to publish books, I have always encouraged the idea of repurposing content as a source for books. I also support the idea of ebook libraries, particularly for certain industries. It's unfortunate that more brands don't leverage this strategy. I could cite numerous thought leaders on this platform who are prolific posters and this rich content sits stagnant and basically unread in a short period of time. Thank you for sharing this valuable information.
