How to Renew Your ILOE Policy and Avoid Fines

The UAE's Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation introduced the Involuntary Loss of Employment (ILOE) insurance scheme in January 2023. This mandatory insurance applies to all employees, including those in government, private sectors, and even Freezone workers. If you do not subscribe or renew your ILOE insurance, you may face a fine of Dh400.

If you subscribed to the ILOE policy at the start of 2023, it's time to renew. Here’s a simple guide on how to renew your policy to stay compliant:

Visit the Official Website: Go to ILOE Insurance.

• Click 'Subscribe/Renew Here': This button will redirect you to a new page.
• Select Your Category: Choose from Private Sector, Federal Government Employee (Public Sector), or Non-Registered in MOHRE (Freezone Workers).
• Sign In: Use the OTP sent to your mobile number or your existing account credentials.
• Confirm Details: Review your information and select the policy term.
• Make Payment: Enter your card details and complete the payment to renew your insurance.

Two Categories of ILOE Insurance

• Category 1: For employees with a basic salary of Dh16,000 or less per month. The premium is Dh5 per month or Dh60 annually.
• Category 2: For employees earning more than Dh16,000 per month. The premium is Dh10 per month or Dh120 annually.

How to Claim

If you lose your job, you can claim your insurance within 30 days of unemployment through the e-portal, smart application, or call center. Compensation is provided within two weeks and is capped at three months per claim. Note that you must have subscribed for at least 12 months and not have been terminated for disciplinary reasons or resignation.

Exemptions

ILOE insurance is not required for investors, business owners, domestic helpers, part-time employees, workers under 18, and retirees entitled to a pension.
