It’s bound to happen. You are entertaining guests or enjoying a glass of wine settling into the evening when oops, the glass of wine spills onto the carpet.
We are carpet cleaning company that has removed thousands of wine stains. Yes, they can be successfully removed if you follow some simple steps. Be careful to follow steps below and not use any over the counter product that may set the stain.
First you want to absorb as much of the wine as possible with a wet vacuum or with a white towel by placing it over the wine spill then stepping on it. Avoid coloured towels as sometimes you can get colour transfer from towel to carpet.
Next, our experiences have been successful with the use of enzyme-based spotting solution and hydrogen peroxide to remove wine stains. You can start with the enzyme based spotter after you have absorbed as much of the spill as possible by spraying it on to a white terry cloth or white paper towels and blot from the outer diameter inward to avoid spreading stain. Continue until no more wine is absorbed in towel.
Next to remove any red colour still remaining use 50/50 mix of water and 3.5% hydrogen peroxide. Again spray onto white terry cloth or white paper towel and blot from outer diameter inward. Use full strength hydrogen peroxide if red colour still remains. You can even cover the area with saran wrap to keep it wet and allow the hydrogen peroxide to continually do its thing. Your neighbourhood pharmacy will carry hydrogen peroxide. If you are going to use over the counter products, look for something that says “oxy” or “hydrogen peroxide” on the labEL.
If you are still having some challenges or want to avoid frustration, call your red wine removal specialists in Vancouver, BC at 604-839-9008.
