HOW TO REMOVE COFFEE STAINS FROM CARPET
We all know the feeling, freshly made cup of coffee, pop it on the side and then a simple lapse in judgment & splosh! Well worry not, we are going to explain how to remove coffee stains from carpet with washing powder which is something most of us already have in our home. This means you can act quickly and get rid of that dark horrible stain.
The top tip is to act quickly. Coffee is particularly difficult to remove if it’s piping hot or on high wool content carpets, either way follow the simple steps below to remove the stain. If unsure give your local carpet cleaning expert a call. Even if you have a professional clean carried out, sooner rather than later is the best course of action for this.
Removing a coffee stain from the carpet using washing powder
Step 1. Soak up as much of the coffee as you can using a cloth or kitchen towel
Step 2. Add 1 tablespoon of non-bio washing powder or liquid to a jug
Step 3. Add 200ml of warm water (not hot) and mix together
Step 4. Use a clean cloth (ideally colourless) or clean tissue, dampen in a small amount of the mixture and then dab the stain
Step 5. Carefully rinse the cloth in the mixture as you go
Step 6. Use the cloth or piece of tissue to dab at the stain until you are confident the stain is gone or you are not seeing any further improvement
Step 7. Once you are confident there is no further improvement being made use a clean cloth or tissue to soak up the moisture within the carpet
Step 8. Use a jug of clean water and a clean cloth or piece of tissue to dab at the stain to remove the soap residue from the carpet
Step 9. Once you are confident there is no further soap residue in the carpet use a clean cloth or tissue to soak up the moisture within the carpet
You may be thinking if it’s that easy why doesn’t everyone know about it, well see for yourself by checking out this video How to remove coffee stain Now we’re not saying this is a miracle cure, there are certain situations where this just won’t work, in those cases we recommend calling a true professional carpet cleaner but, when you want to act fast this can be a great go-to method.
The downside is no matter how hard you try there will be some soapy residue left within the carpet, if you have a DIY carpet cleaner then it will help by rinsing the area. However, unless you neutralise the soap it will continue to attract the dirt so after time you will end up with a dark stain but that is easily removed by a professional carpet deep clean and that is definitely better than a coffee stain which if left in a carpet for weeks or months can become permanent damage.
