How to relax…and REST
The concept of relaxing does not come easy to everyone. It is a learned skill, a way of thinking about the activities that you are doing when you are not working. What works for one person, like baking or cooking, can cause stress for another. Picking activities like reading, taking a bath, or planting a garden can make time fly by and help get you to your happy place.
Just know that the list is endless, and there is no right answer. ?Just do what is best for you. For me, it is working out. I get into my own head and focus on breathing, sometimes listening to music. This is where I can be creative and visualize answers to questions that have been in my brain but I’ve not been relaxed enough to see the answer. However, when I am relaxed, I am open to the possibilities and trust the process. I will have an answer.
It is better than OK if you just want to turn off your brain and be in the moment of whatever brings you that relaxed feeling. Trust that life will tap us on the shoulder and tell us when to get back to work.?This is the “reality” of life.?
When we can master the relaxation skill, we will be more effective in our lives and be better people (moms, dads, daughters, sons, friends, neighbors, nephews, nieces, employees, employers) simply because we have found our way to help us feel relaxed and REST(ED).
