How to Regain Your Influence

How to Regain Your Influence

When you find yourself without influence, this article contains some thoughts about how to bite through.

When you must deal with people who pay you too little attention, or don’t seem to notice you, there are three things you can do:?

  1. Give up.
  2. Try to force them to see it your way, or
  3. Allow things to work out.?

When you use force, it is usually a temporary victory.

With giving up (and with force,) you compromise your self-esteem.

When you want someone’s attention, the person feels it and might exploit it which rarely builds respect.

When you are intent on having an influence, you might not see that the person you are trying to influence is not treating you correctly. ?If you allow that, if you excuse it, or convince yourself that it is not that bad, you send the offender the message that however they behave, it is all right.

If you can allow things to work out, you strengthen your independence.?

Step back, breathe and remain neutral.? There is power in withdrawal.

Absolutely, changing direction and moving past that person can definitely be a helpful approach. Sometimes, focusing on those who appreciate and acknowledge you is the best strategy Shar McBee

I always feel if someone is not noticing me maybe it's me. I need to shift. Mostly I think it is my energy that shows thought in my videos and interactions.

Interesting post. I loved your last two lines. It takes inner strength to do that but is the right choice in the long run. Choosing that independence builds self-esteem.

Interesting to think about stepping back and letting the universe take over. I wonder if just changing direction and moving past that person wouldn't be helpful too?

I love this. Step back and breathe. Great advice. Today, I received a book called 48 Laws of Power which fits nicely with this Shar McBee
