How To Recognise the Four Stages Of Competence

You may have heard saying that “the beginning of wisdom, is to know that you know nothing.”

In this article, I would like to chat about what it is to know nothing or to realise that you know nothing. Moreover, this is also one of the four key stages of development that everyone goes through as the reality is you were not born with all the skills that you have today.

Humans have to go through a process by which you learn and acquire skills, and some of these skills you will learn inductively by trial and error, you’ll find out how to do something learning from your mistakes along the way and eventually you might even work out the overall context of that something in the wider world and all the other tasks and processes around and related to it.

Other skills you will learn deductively, this is when you go to school, or where you go on a course with work. Or, any kind of method by which someone tells you this is the process and framework that you use to achieve the end goal, within this we may have a set of building blocks, and within these building blocks we have smaller chunks, and so on. They give you the whole of these elements step by step, spoon-fed in one respect. This is the whole point of how the stages of competence work.
