How To Be A Real Influencer

The global influencer industry has become a $16 billion dollar industry. But we're doing it all wrong.

In our current state we rank influencers by how many millions of followers they have, but it's all very egoistic and superficial. We all know that but keep playing the game anyhow. The ultimate proof of how superficial it is, is that we now have virtual influencers - who aren't even real humans! They have millions of followers, and make huge deals with the biggest brands. They know how to tap into our most basic desires so we buy more products.

Being a real influencer is about striving to have better attributes than our instinctive human tendencies and inclinations, which are all self-serving.

All that is about to shift in the near future, because we're right on the verge of discovering what it really means to be an influencer. Then all the current influencers will start realizing that having their egoistic thoughts validated and repeated around the world is actually a big part of the problem. Not only does it harm them, but it also harms the whole world. And there will eventually be a huge price to pay for all that damage they're causing.

Being a real influencer is about striving to have better attributes than our instinctive human tendencies and inclinations, which are all self-serving.

We'll start to want to come out of our own ego, and actually learn to rise above our own ego. And the more we start moving in that direction, the more we'll discover our true nature.

When will we begin to embark on this new path? The minute we realize that all our basic desires are working against us, not for us as we imagined all along. When our 'I" starts to yearn for something beyond the superficial that is not fulfilling us at all. That's when we'll want to acquire better attributes that will make us better people. That's what will help make the people around us better people too. We need to start envisioning what that will look like because it will be the complete opposite of what we're doing right now. We will set this new goal for ourselves, and start arranging everything in our lives to attain it.

The People Behind The Influencers Will Also Change

We'll start to want to come out of our own ego, and actually learn to rise above our own ego. And the more we start moving in that direction, the more we'll discover our true nature. That everything we do is really self-serving and that getting beyond it is a very challenging and complex process. And all this is true for the super talented people behind the scenes, managing the real life influencers and the powerful virtual influencers. When all those creative and technical teams change for the better, what their influencers put out to the world will be far more beneficial for all of us. We can expect a big ripple effect.

The more we want to connect with others to start hacking away at our ego, we'll start to recognize that there are two forces operating in the world around us - just like there is heat and cold, plus and minus - there is good and bad. At the end of the day we're going to learn how they can balance each other out. And then we'll be able to be above them. This is how we get access to the good forces. To be real influencers.

Rising Above Our Ego is No Walk in the Park

We're starting to feel how our desires are taking us in a bad direction. And how desirable coming out of ourselves could be. We need to start taking some steps in this direction, rising above our ego. But the ego is a great thing in our lives because it's helping us understand that we want to be the exact opposite - instead of being in that limited space, we want to have a positive impact on the world. The moment we start trying to rise above ourselves and discover better attributes to acquire we see how opposite we are. Then we start understanding whose really running the show - our bad nature. We see how difficult it's going to make this process for us.

But the catch is that we can't get that wonderful boost of emotional intelligence together, and we can't get that incredible boost of human flourishing together, without discovering the inherent flaw in our nature.

Self serving belief systems is part of who we are Josia - the way forward is to present a better system of collaborative leadership that embraces and most importantly recognises our flaws. To present practical case studies of what we can achieve by working together despite our differences and blind bias. A systemic form of innovation and understanding that is changing epistemic beliefs and gives rise to cognitive dissonance. A journey of 'unlearning' that can provide a renewed clarity of being and purpose beyond egoistical needs. The danger for our species is that AI will merely replicate the human condition and help the same self serving objectives from an empowered but 'skewed perspective'.
