How To Read More: 12 Easy Tips

I enjoy reading books and bring them with me wherever I go. Instead of being frustrated and bored when waiting in line, I read, and it provides me with both pleasure and information. However, I wasn't always like this, here is how you can start reading as I did.

My yearly goal is to read 64 books, which takes a week for each book. However, this is not always the case; some books take as little as 2-3 days. You can see the list here (short book)

In this article, we will talk about how you can read more!

1. Only Read What You Enjoy

?Whether you're reading fiction or nonfiction, it's essential to enjoy what you're reading. Your friends may recommend novels that they appreciate, but such books may or may not be ones that you enjoy as well.

Don't just read for the sake of it. Reading should not be added to your to-do list as a task to be completed. If you have no interest in reading books that you think you "should" read or that you think are beneficial for you, you will slow down your reading process.

Instead, seek fantastic novels that excite your interest and arouse your curiosity. You'll find yourself reading these novels more quickly than usual.

2. Keep a book on the deck at all times.

Have a designated area in your backpack for your next book, whether you're driving to work or while having your coffee. In this manner, reading will always be an option if you find yourself with some unexpected free time.

3. Feel free to go over the pages.

You make your own rules when it comes to reading for personal enjoyment and knowledge. Don't feel bad if you miss a few pages.

Skipping pages is, in reality, more productive. It allows you to skip over the portions that are uninteresting or irrelevant, and you won't waste time reading anything that isn't relevant to you.

4. Set a reading goal for yourself.

A reading goal might help you determine how much reading you should achieve in a week or even a day.

My current reading goal, for example, is to read 64 novels every year. Because there are 52 weeks in a year, I need to read at least one novel each week and more depending on the length of the book.? Having a reading objective allows me to plan how much time I need to devote to reading each day, as well as determine what information I want from each book.

Instead of carelessly reading in the hopes of discovering anything beneficial, come prepared with a list of reading goals. This allows you to concentrate on certain sections of the book and locate information that is relevant to you as you read.

?5. Set a deadline for yourself to finish each book.

Ask yourself when you need to finish each book before you start reading it.

What I find fascinating is that I read books borrowed from my local library more quickly than ones purchased. The reason for this is that the books I purchased do not have a due date! I don't have to return those books, so I'm free to take my time.

There is no feeling of urgency when you don't set a deadline to finish your book, and when something isn't important, you tend to delay, and your books end up on the shelf unopened and unread. To avoid this situation, set a deadline.

?6. Include reading in your daily routine.

If reading is essential to you, you will find and arrange a time to do it, no matter how busy you are.

"I often hear from individuals who claim they're too exhausted to read before going to bed, so ask yourself a question 'What do you do before you settle in?'"? "you would say something like, 'I'm on Instagram,' or 'I'm checking my emails.'" people should put their phones down and take up books or e-readers. It's totally fine if you read the book for Ten minutes and then fall asleep.

8. Perhaps even when you first wake up in the morning.

If your schedule allows, instead of going through your emails or starting the day's to-do list right away, take a break and read for anything from 15 minutes to an hour. Yes, you are permitted to remain in bed.

?9. Make a reading list long in advance

Always have the following book on hand to keep your reading enthusiasm going. Don't wait until you've finished all of your novels before moving on to the next one. You'll spend time looking for the next book.

10.?If at all possible, get some context first.

You may sometimes enter into the author's world much faster if you watch the trailer, read the synopsis, or follow some of the web information that the author has provided.

In the beginning, you won't have to spend as much time setting the scene or getting to know the characters. This can also excite your interest in the book and encourage you to keep reading until you reach the finish.

11. Instead of looking for words, read for meaning.

Have you ever found yourself reading words but not understanding what the author is trying to say?

Reading a book word for word isn't the most efficient method of reading. Some words, such as "a," "an," and "the," have no meaning in the context of what you're reading. Your brain is more intelligent than you realize. By drawing on your existing knowledge and experience, your brain can create meanings and grasp what the author is saying with just a few keywords.

Furthermore, unless you're reading to appreciate the author's use of language, reading word for word is tiresome. Allow your eyes to scan the page and take up words that will aid in the formation of meanings.

12. At the Same Time, Read Several Books

This may appear counterintuitive, but it might be useful if you're doing research or want to quickly learn about a topic. Reading many books at once helps you to have access to a variety of viewpoints on the same subject more rapidly.
